Hi to you all,

Is anybody familiar with a bootleg referring to "Electra recordings"?
A buddy of mine read about it and I was also wondering if it exists.

I know it's a little vage but does it ring a bell?

Electra Jams recordings November 1972 electra studios

Thx midnrambler,

I just found out that the stones went end of november 1972 (after the 23rd of november, since they recorded a lot of goaths head soup songs in Kingston) to LA. End of November the stones flew to LA to prepare the tour in the far east.

When they were in LA, they Jammed in the Electra studio's and produced high quality experimental recordings with Mick Taylor and Nicky Hopkins. Amongst the recordings, were 'Travellin Man', 'Leather Jacket', 'Potted Shrimps' and a later version of 'Blood Red Wine', which reminds of winter.

the question now is, what is the bootleg that corresponds with it?

Now I'm confused. Where did you get the info that they were @ Elektra @ the end of 1972?

Martin Elliot's book 'The Rolling Stones' has them in Jamaica 25 Nov-21 Dec 1972. He also has the following references for the songs you mention -

'Blood Red Wine' is from May 1968
'Leather Jacket' is from June-July 1970
'Travellin Man' & 'Potted Shrimps' are from Oct 1970, all recorded @ Olympic Sound Studios, London

HOWEVER.....

VGP-214 'Hillside Blues' (on which these songs can be found) has a reference to Elektra 1972, altho they don't state which trax are from which sessions

Record Mirror vol 8 has PS & LJ from Elektra 1972

I would trust Martin's book

Do you know about this link which was posted here recently? If you don't, copy & paste the info, make duplicate copies, print it out, whatever, it's an incredible effort, don't know who put this together but top marks whoever he/she is.
