Rolling Stones
Soldier Field
Chicago, Illinois
June 27, 2024

24-bit
Location: Section 130, 1st row

Track listing:

CD1 (63:15):
(1) Intro (0:10)
(2) Start Me Up (4:15)
(3) Get Off Of My Cloud (3:51)
(4) It's Only Rock and Roll (4:50)
(5) Angry (4:51)
(6) Banter (0:48)
(7) She's a Rainbow (3:45)
(8) Wild Horses (5:08)
(9) Mess It Up (5:55)
(10) Tumbling Dice (5:42)
(11) You Can't Always Get What You Want (7:09)
(12) Band introductions (4:44)
(13) Tell Me Straight (4:05)
(14) Little T&A (4:14)
(15) Happy (3:42)

CD2 (56:27):
(1) Sympathy For The Devil (7:09)
(2) Honky Tonk Women (4:39)
(3) Midnight Rambler (11:59)
(4) Banter (0:27)
(5) Gimme Shelter (6:47)
(6) Paint It Black (4:49)
(7) Jumping Jack Flash (4:31)
(8) Encore break (3:01)
(9) Sweet Sounds of Heaven (6:04)
(10) (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction (6:57)

There are no fades applied to this recording; if you choose to burn to CD, the above splits are just a suggestion.

Comments: This recording captures the first of two nights of the Rolling Stones in Chicago on the last dates of the U.S. leg of their "Hackney Diamonds" tour. Great show, with a good mix of material from the 1960s through today, including four songs from their most recent album. Sound quality is pretty good but not great; I was in the front row of the section right off the floor at roughly the 50-yard line; as a result, there was minimal crowd interference (there was nobody in front of me) but I wasn't as close to the PA as I would have liked. Overall I was happy with this recording, and in the absence of other sources I would imagine that most Stones fans will be too.

In terms of performances, the Stones are always entertaining at this stage of their career, although there were some noticeable flubs. Listen to the opening notes of "Start Me Up" and "Satisfaction" to hear some clunkers from Keith. It's not the 1970s anymore but this band still delivers better than most rock bands a generation (or more) younger. Overall an enjoyable recording.

I must be getting dense, I'm on Dime and can't figure how to download. It's been a while since I've last done this.

Any opinions on this vs. the previous one posted in another thread?

I remember that posts from DIME or other trackers should not mention recording equipment and other information related to recording.

The Rolling Stones
Levi's Stadium
Santa Clara, California
July 17, 2024

H2Zoom

Start Me Up
Get Off of My Cloud
Tumbling Dice
Angry
Far Away Eyes
Like a Rolling Stone
Bite My Head Off
Mess It Up
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Intros
You Got the Silver
Little T&A
Before They Make Me Run

Sympathy for the Devil
Honky Tonk Women
Midnight Rambler
Gimme Shelter
Paint It Black
Jumpin' Jack Flash
Sweet Sounds of Heaven
(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction

Notes: The Stones! Amazing Mick, Keith and Ronnie are still doing it, and quite well. Cool to hear the new songs (which are really good IMHO) mixed in the the classics. Mick showed some good local knowledge (Levi's 10th anniversary, Cow Palace, 49ers) so good on him. Recording is OKish, but I'm sure better will appear here. Wanted to get it out there for the diehards to chew on.

———————————————————————————————————————

I downloaded this show from IORR. It was shared in two folders for a 2-CD format, as 24-48 WAV files.
I have converted them to FLAC and renumbered them to match the originals, which should not compromise the quality. (I wish people would just share things as they found them, especially as this is such a recent recording). FYI, CD2 starts at track 15 Before They Make Me Run.
These files may not look the same as the originals shared at www.thetradersden.org but they are be the same, as all my conversions are lossless.
The FFP files are newly created for this file set, and will prove their integrity.

Thanks to toshi and Dennis!

I downloaded the I.O.R.R. version. It is 24/48 and the total size is 1.37 GB.

But your upload is not 24/48. It is 16/48 and the total size is 719 MB.

If you read the thread carefully, Tonstone makes a request for a 16 bit version, and EddieByword posts a second We Transfer upload after converting it from 24 to 16. I think that is the version you grabbed.

The Rolling Stones Candlestick Park San Francisco CA.
October 17th, 1981

Audience recording half way back.
I recorded this show myself and snuck the tape cassette recorder in. I don't remember what kind of tape recorder it was.
2024 transfer:
The master audio cassette was located and digitized directly via Tascam PCM Recorder to WAV files.
The sound of the arena was not crystal clear but the excitement is palpable.
