tell me please, is it possible to get this dvd via any tracker? Gigasize doesn't work good for me now, lately it is too slow for soo big files (max. 35KB/s). maybe you know where i can get torrent file for this show or any different way for getting this show? M

Thanks to all who made this possible from the original uploader on down, and especially UrbanSteel who has brought it to us. Thanks are not enough.

But let me say with all due respect, gigasize is damn-near satanic. I do not want to bore you with a rehash of the extraordinary hassles I endured to pull this down. You all are experiencing it as well I am sure. UrbanSteel, I apologize for suggesting this, and no doubt you have addressed this issue before, but please consider posting on rapidshare, as the performance of rapidshare for "premium" users is quite good and these files are very very large.

Enough bitchin'. The concert audio is soundboard remixed, hardly any audience seeps through at all. The video is superb and professionally edited, which begs the question: is this show an Ashby outtake?

Many thanks again.
Gigasize works ok for me in the UK - especially downloading
However, had a few problems uploading so using megaupload which seems ok

Cheers.

Yes. Fully agree.

>But let me say with all due respect, gigasize is damn-near satanic.

I have not had any issues with Gigasize. Downloads, while a bit lengthy, have all gone smoothly.

>The concert audio is soundboard remixed, hardly any audience seeps through at >all.

Yes, unfortunate for the drop outs in Beast Of Burden and @#$%&. Has there been a DVD release of this in similar quality without those drops?

>The video is superb and professionally edited, which begs the question: is this >show an Ashby outtake?

Nah. Most of the indoor dome and/or stadium shows have videos taken from the in-house projection. This one is fairly elaborate, but there are several points during the concert where you can see the image you are watching on the screen behind the stage.

Also, Ashby wouldn't have recorded on videotape, it was strictly film. The lighting would have also been dramatically brighter throughout.

Note: The whole show was professionally filmed.

But it is professionally filmed, Urban Steel, even if the reason was that it would be shown on a screen above/next to the stage.
Houston 81 probably has the same story; a copy of the feed to the screen.
To my eyes, all these shows are typical "screen videos", it's not good enough footage to be used for other reasons. There's too few cameras, too few angles, and it's too dark on the stage. Also; the stills in-between songs are typical for the 80s screen airings.

Rolling Stones probably made a copy of this feed for themselves; and somehow it got circulated.

Nico Zentgraf's sources are in many cases the same as ours...circulating recordings or footage. There are more concerts which should have had the "professionally filmed" - or "soundboard recording was made" -comment attached....as most concerts from the 70s/80s was recorded by Rolling Stones. Not that I think he hasn't done a great job - it's a terrific webpage/book. But his sources are limited, which is only natural

BTW....this DVD is terrific...highly recommended; nice of you to upload it; though I allready have it.

Agree with Erik. And thanks for the additional explanation/support on this. Another reason you can tell this wouldn't be used in a truly professional capacity is that the cameras aren't 'balanced' properly (mostly due to the lighting): you'll notice the crystal-clear picture on the camera filming Mick close-up, but the cameras further away show the colors bleeding a bit more, and the 'lines' a bit less sharp.

Also notice at the end of the show, you can see the larger cameras in the 'pit' in front of the stage, and the much less sophisticated hand-held video unit one cameraman is seen using. Neither of these units, especially the latter, would have been used for the 35mm (like a feature film) filming Ashby did.

It is just as likely that these shows were leaked from the in-house crew (unless Bill Graham promoted these shows possibly). If you've noticed with other artists (New Barbarians, Springsteen etc.), there are many tapes of shows that happened at the Cap Center in Largo, MD. Similar issue with a connection to the in-house crew.

Sadly, only one Stones' concert over the years has ever been noted -- the uncirculated Largo 1975 videotape. While I do know a high-level collector who has a copy, I have never seen any clips from it.

There is a rumor that a clip from the show was used in one of the two "History of Rock N Roll" series that appeared in the mid-90s. It is NOT the Time/Life series available on DVD. I _believe_ it could be the PBS/BBC series based on the Robert Palmer book, which seems to be out of print. My understanding is the Stones' clip from 1975 appears at the end of one of the episodes, possibly during the credits.

Erik: is this the definitive 10/15/81 DVD available as we discussed previously?

J

The cover art file for this one doesn't work. Same with Live in Germany '73. Am I the only one with this problem?

Thanks in advance! This is amazing stuff.

Does anyone have trouble burning this? I'm again getting the message of failure of allocation of files (IFO not identical to BUP and to VOB etc.) and it is unplayable. I tried Live in Germany 73 with a DVD-RW and that still doesn't work either. The VOB files work fine separately on the computer but I can't burn them to disc! This is a great film. Help!!!

The exact message from Nero 8 I get is this:

Backup file 'VIDEO_TS.BUP should be identical to VIDEO_TS.IFO
Backup file VTS_01.BUP should be identical to VTS_01_0.IFO
DVD-Video files compliance test failed

I've burned away on both DVD-R and DVD-RW and neither works.
