I know a lot about files in the Apple world, but outside of it, I am lost. Some files I have downloaded have a suffix of .rar

What format is that? It will not open on my computer. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks!

The fix (for any other confused IORR's) who may read this:

Get the free Stuffit Expander and use it to decompress/decrypt the .rar file

rar is just another compressio file - like 'zip'.

Get the freeware 'Winrar' program.

I use 7-zip
It opens zips & rars
It's free, clean & stable
