I am reading STP by Greenfield, (again). He discusses the rehearsals for the 72 tour in LA. Do any recordings of these rehearsals exist?

nah....nothing that I've ever heard of....there's a clip of them doing YCAGWYW in the @#$%& Blues film though.....which you probably already know....
