Help-How do l transfer cassettes to computer?

l am lousy at computer technology, l have many cassettes that would like to put in my computer and then to cds. Is there a program that l need?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Strangely enough I did exactly what you're trying to do recently. I have a 'stand alone' Philips cd recorder though. It's a great machine & is just part of my hi-fi. It can be used just like a cassette deck-ie: you can record vinyl, cassettes or copy cds with it. If they are still available, I would recommend you buy one. It wasn't even very expensive, but I bought mine in 2002.
Obviously, once you've put whatever you want onto the cd, you can load it into 'Itunes' or a similar program & burn as many copies as you like.

Get yourself a free sound editor like Audacity: [audacity.sourceforge.net]

connect line out of your tapedeck with the line in of your PC soundcard.
start some test recording to get your levels matched and listen to them.

It's quite easy, just like recording with your tapedeck.
