Ok, for the 'techies' out there, here's my input. The vocals were recorded in one take (I have just got a Samson condenser mike and Line6 Toneport UX2), so it is a bit 'rough and ready', but we wanted to do a version that sounded good, without spending ages getting it 'perfect'. I recorded the backing vocals in one take also. I read that 'double tracking' the vocals can make them sound 'thicker', but we didn't do that on this occasion.
Personally I think that the Nashville tuning that open-g has used really makes the track, and his slide playing is excellent in my opinion!
The other acoustic guitar (right channel) is me playing the track in open g tuning, rather like I would when Stikkyfingers play Wild Horses at our gigs.
I recorded my parts into my PC using Mackie Traction 2, and sent them to the 'producer' (open-g) in Berlin for the final mix!
I have to say that this has been great fun! It has worked well as a collaboration and maybe we will record another song in the future!
Thankyou all so much for your reviews - we weren't sure what you would make of our first efforts!
