Only Found Out Yesterday - Question
Posted by: wiredallnight ()

What is the deal with the track Only Found Out Yesterday from 2002? There is that 2 minute guitar instrumental titled like this which was recently shared by Captain Acid in his collection. On the other side Nico lists the track as "unverified" which would mean it does not circulate at all. What is the truth?

It's in fact a Beacon Theatre rehearsal from 20061029, not the Licks Sessions version. A video with KR playing for himself on stage exists.

Thank you. OK, I see, it plays also during the closing credits of Shine A Light where it is also titled like this. But honestly, in this case it's totally wrong in the Licks outtakes. Just like Hurricane too.

No, the version on Goldplate is the same version from 2006 as everywhere, not the 2002 Licks version, which is not available. The information od dbboots is once again wrong (as often)!

Similar to other sites like Discogs etc.

The information od [sic] dbboots is once again wrong (as often)!

dbboots.com is an amazing site. It is "non profit from fans to fans." I have used it extensively and not yet discovered any errors, but I'm sure something so totally comprehensive must have a few (most likely caused by mistakes made on the boots themselves).

Here's what they offer to those finding errors: "If you . . . notice some incorrect information on this site, please feel free to send an email to the site administrator."

You can find the email address at the very bottom of the page in graphic form (presumably to reduce spam). [www.dbboots.com]

The site is an ingenious use of database technology in how it presents everything to users via clickable links. I cannot imagine how many hundreds or thousands of hours it has taken to develop the site over many years.

It's very easy to consume others' work, and very hard to produce it ourselves. So hard that almost no one does. Let's not inadvertently discourage those who do the work and share it freely.

OK, you are probably right. I think I mixed it up with discogs, sorry.

I was a bit too harsh -- I was just trying to defend one of my favorite Stones info sites but it came at the end of a long and difficult day.

Discogs can't be compared to the great dbboots ! Discogs is an interesting resource but just lists label notes with zero checks.

Only Found Out Yesterday is Keith's version, or a balladed slowed down interpretation, of MalagueƱa.

Why it's called Only Found Out Yesterday from Thru And Thru... who knows, but it's MalagueƱa.

The title comes most probably from the "Shine A Light" movie. During the end credits first some other songs are playing and then at the end Keith plays an instrumental guitar version of Wild Horses first and then at last this track. The end credits list both "Wild Horses" and "Only Found Out Yesterday", so I assume that this shall be the title of this track. But why they name it like this I don't know either.
