I'm working on syncing audio to the circulating silent footage of the 07-26-72 show, but just wanted to make sure I have the best version of the audience source/partial soundboard. My current source is Disc 6 of the 'Work Sucks, Let's Go on Tour' comp, but I'm not sure if that's been superseded. Any help would be appreciated!
If memory serves, Nasty Songs (DAC) is better than VGP's Welcome To New York. At least I deleted the VGP, when purchasing the DAC, after a brief comparision. Then again, DAC's Nasty Songs is taken from watchit's transfer of a mint wide-stereo-version of the TMOQ LP, added with low-generation audience recording.
The more I listen to this show the more I think the band was quite tired that night... OK the "Happy birthday Mick!"/Uptight ending is moving even though it only exists in a low-quality audience tape.
They do sound a little tired ever after the 2nd show in Philadelphia, but the 3rd and 4th MSG shows are still real good, even if tired, IMO. Just like Berlin, Cologne and 2nd Paris 1970....they're not among the best performances that year, but even them are great.
...no wonder they got tired by July 1972, btw.....even if they *didn't* play any concerts.
