I have stopped trying to judge the quality of the show by the recording, even if it's a soundboard.

1. How the band sounds 'in the room' is usually quite different, for better or worse.
2. Recording gear can capture a lot, but often does a bad job of capturing power, and bands like The Stones (and The Who esp) project power into the room of their better shows. It can just sound like distorted mud on a recording.
3. Energy and passion - you just have to be there.

All that said, I LOVE live music and live records, esp bootlegs, showing warts and all. I am so thankful for this site and all the posters who are so very generous with their collections and taking the time to post (often going to the extreme of posting in multiple formats). There is no other place I have found that is anything close to IORR and it's members.
