I have completed the blu-ray version and uploaded it at Dime:

I will also upload it at Planet Rock Lossless Bootlegs and make it a "free leech" torrent so that people can get it without taking a share ratio hit.

I uploaded a 23GB blu-ray to dropbox a few months ago. Some people were able to download it, but many had trouble. So practically speaking, you are right that torrents are the only effective way to download blu-ray discs.

The only way I could see as a practical solution would be split rar files uploaded somewhere, but my bandwidth won't allow for that, take me a couple of weeks each.
And it would be a really big ask to expect anyone to start doing it.
