I used a Sony minidisc recorder with external mic. The recording levels are generally low with this equipment and when I have posted original recordings before, I have raised them. I thought that they were ok this time. The only editing I did was cutting out some shouting near the mic.

Hi Ray,

As Bol states it has been recorded with a minidisc recorder which explains why the files are lossy (inherent to the minidiscformat).

Nevertheless it's quite a nice recording. Thanks for the upload!

In the light of comments above regarding the Flac/mp3 recording I had a look back at what I did.

I recently upgraded my CD burning program (Roxio) as the older version was not compatible with Windows 7. With the old program, I could record direct from the minidisc recorder in real time to a wav file. With this file I would tweak as necessary and split the tracks with Audacity. This is what I thought I did with the Ron Wood recording but I have since found out that the new Roxio program only records in real time as mp3. When I separated the tracks with Audacity, they were extracted as wav files (as usual) and it is these files that I converted to Flac.

If someone (keessie?) can recommend a program or explain how I can transfer the original recording from the minidisc to my PC as a wav file I am happy to start again and repost the tracks in lossless format. Or is this not possible with minidisc (as Britney’s comment above)?

Apologies for my ignorance on this!

UrbanSteel, that's great! So simple but I didn't see it, although I did use the help/search facility. Thank you very much.

I will now sort this out and re-post it.

Transferring directly from minidisc to WAV is probably the best way to preserve the quality of the masterrecording from minidisc. The minidisc format however is slightly lossy itself.

Flac files all sorted but I cannot upload them to megaupload or rapidshare as both sites simply stop uploading or say 'error'. This happened on Friday so I thought I would leave it over the weekend but it is the same again today.

I tried uploading individual tracks but even that did not work. Any suggestions?

Thanks for reworking the flac files Bol, really much appreciated!

Mediafire works fine in my country, maybe you want to try it.

Thank you very much for recommending mediafire, Quique-stone, the flac files are now posted at the top of this thread. Sorry for the delay but I did have problems with megaupload and rapidfire.

A big thanks to those who took the trouble to create the artwork for this show. Great stuff!
