Best Outtake of "Start Me Up"?
Posted by: spbetz ()

Hi Group,

I was cleaning through some old stuff yesterday and came across an old cassette tape of outtakes from 'Tattoo You.'

There was a really clear sounding outtake of "Start Me Up" which is much better than the version on 'Tattoo Too.' This is the version with background vocals but different vocals by Mick and a different mix on the guitars.

If anyone has a good MP3 or flac of this outtake, I'd really appreciate it.

Best,
Steve

Mitch is right,
There is the "reggae" version aka Never Stop from the Balck and Blue sessions and there are 3+ version from the Paris 77-79 sessions.

If you want them all, I'll post what I have

Hi Cafaro,

Thanks for the reply.

As far as the four versions, I believe there are 2 reggae versions, 1 other version w/no background vocals and a 4th with all vocals but different lead vocal by Mick.

It's this 4th version I'm looking for (in good quality, of course).
If you could post it, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks,
Steve

I don't mean to be a beggar so here's a great live, soundboard version of 'Little T & A' from the last tour:

Thanks Cafaro!

I' ve checked it and yours is the same as mine 'Start me up #1'.

But thank you for it.

I have found 2 more but the last one is not a real outtake. It' s from the remasterd CD by Sister Morphine 'Tattoo'd'
About the first one I can' t really say much. Maybe I have posted it here before but I have to be a little bit quite tonight, so I can' t hear it very loud and clear to check it (don' t have any earphones) smiling smiley

1. Start me up (from 'Tattoo you sessions')

2. Start me up (from 'Tattoo'd' - Sister Morphine remaster)

Rolling On,

Wow, that remaster of "Start Me Up" from 'Tattoo'd' is fantastic. Do you know what other tracks are on that Sister Morphine release?

Hi Rolling On,

Thanks again for that remastered version of "SMU" from that 'Tattoo'd' release. The sound is fantastic! Any way I could beg for "Hang Fire" as well? I still don't know why they haven't played it live since '82... Does ANYONE have an idea of why not?

Anyways, and as they say, for something completely different, here's "Feel Your Love Tonight" live 1998 by Van Halen on a radio broadcast:

Lastly, does anyone have "Start Me Up" from the MTV broadcast in '94 I believe it was???

Thanks to everyone for the great posts!!!
