Posted by: Anonymous User ()
Date: January 10, 2008 08:51

I've always bin a huge fan of this Talk Is Cheap track and ever since I found out about these remixes I was keen to find them.

I was able to find 3 of the 4 unbelievably rare remixes that only made it to a 12" white label, Virgin test pressing. They were never released officially. I've never seen a copy of the 12" but would really like to have it some day as a hard core collector.

Remixes II and III are rather hard to listen to. They are kind of like Rock And A Hard Place (Bonus Roll) for example. But the first remix is quite good in my opinion. Although nothing tops the original LP version.

The sound is very good. But if someone has the all 4 remixes, and in better quality, please post!

Thanks..

Terrific. The first remix is the best. The others are superfluous.

According To D. Hoffman's Weissbuch - Recording Index - the 4 mixes from the 12" testpressing are called as follows:

- Remix 5:41
- Dub Mix 6:20
- Club Mix 5:38
- OK Dub Mix 8:28

The first three are also available on a bootleg (that's probably where you got them from):

For Collector's Only (3 CDs, RS 19001 CD)
Contains single B sides, maxi single versions and remixes from the Rolling Stones and Keith Richards, mostly taken from vinyl. All Down The Line appears by mistake in the album instead of the single version. With Gimme Shelter live from Food Benefit, Through The Lonely Nights and 3 rare Big Enough remixes from never released 12".

AFAIK the 4th mix is unavailable on CD.

Yeah, I saw the names too but I couldn't identify them. The remixes I have seem shorter and probably not full versions.

I got them on a CD boot called Main Offender Rehearsals.

Unfortunately there is a Spanish radio speaker interrupting these tracks. So they come from a Spanish radio broadcast. Since they all end very abruptly the speaker was most probably talking over the end of the songs too, so they are not the complete versions.
My guess is that we have here the (shortened) "Remix", "Dub Mix", and "OK Dub Mix", missing the "Club Mix".
