Here’s the Bobster for this week. He’s taking us all on a train trip. No “Mystery Train” by Elvis; no “Orange Blossom Special” by Johnny Cash; no “Chattanooga Choo-Choo” or “Take the A-Train”; no “City of New Orleans” by Arlo; no “Trains and Boats and Planes” by Burt Bacharach and performed by Dionne Warwick. But you do get the Clash, the Dead and the Monkees. Did you know the same studio muscians that did most of the instrumental playing on the Beach Boys albums also did most of the instrumental playing on the Monkees albums? And that Stephen Stills did not pass the audition to become a Monkee? And that Jimi Hendrix opened for the Monkee’s on an early American tour? Imagine the mind warp that occurred in American teenybopper heads when Hendrix came out and did his thing. Imagine being the Monkees and trying to follow him. Oh, well, here’s this week’s show. Enjoy!
