Although I'd been a Stones fan since I was a teenager (Made In The Shade was the very first album I ever purchased in, I think, 1975), the first time I got to see them was at Shea Stadium on the Steel Wheels tour.

I don't recall the date (October for sure as my Mets were NOT in the postseason), but it was the night we were all amazed at Ronnie playing during the opening chords of Little Red Rooster. Then, when I grabbed my buddies binoculars (crappy seats, ya know) I saw that it was Eric Clapton!!

It was a great night, one I'll never forget. The biggest memory comes from watching a long trail of headlights at the perimeter of Shea's parking lot make their way through the lot, up to right behind the centerfield scoreboard, behind the stage. It was a motorcycle escort of five separate vans, and as I watched through the binoculars, there's Keith, then Charlie, etc. each hopping out of their own van. They march up onto the stage, the opening cresendo builds and suddenly Start Me Up erupts and my night begins! (Whooo...just gave meself the chills!)

Now, would there be someone out there with a copy of this show they'd like to share so I can have the ultimate souvenir of me losing my Stones cherry!
