It all depends on the max speed of your drive, the quality of your drive, the software you use.. etcetera. I have a 52x drive. I burn at speed 8, never had a problem.
There are variables but, common sense says the slower you go,the less likely you are to get errors. Most high quality discs are optimized for low speed burning. When you go up to around 32x the errors become much more frequent.
@Chas44 Especially if you are using windows, just burn and run no other processes during the burning. On MacOS and Linux, things are a bit more flexible, but still.

To keep the quality WAV is best. Otherwise, I can't hear the difference between mp3 192kbit @ 41000 Hz and a WAV-file. But if you're into big subwoofers you might have to use 320 kbit @ 48000 Hz.
