Cafaro:

You're the man. I'm not worthy !!

Thanks so much for posting the not so easily available version of FORT WORTH EXPRESS.

You came through with what RECORD COLLECTOR magazine (June 1999 issue) considered the very best available edition of the June 24 1972 Fort Worth Texas show. Track 12 is the band introductions.

Here is the appropriate artwork for the Vinyl Gang release (VGP205):

Front Cover

Rear Cover

And here is what Fingerprint File website had to say:

CD
ROLLING STONES
FORT WORTH EXPRESS
VINYL GANG VGP 205
Fort Worth, TX 6/24/72 - 2nd show
Fort Worth, TX 6/24/72 - 1st show *
9s/8m* - SB/AUD*

Brown Sugar
Bitch
Rocks Off
Gimme Shelter
Don't Lie To Me
Love In Vain
Sweet Virginia
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Tumbling Dice
Happy *
Midnight Rambler
Bye Bye Johnny
Rip This Joint
Jumpin' Jack Flash
Street Fighting Man

Mother loves you.

Excellent show, thanks, but I've read that the best version of this show is 'Ahmet Ertegun, Thank You Kindly'. It was requested here before, but I guess no one has it.

Is this source the CD "Forth Worth Express" VGP 205 ?????

or any other?

I think VGP has the best source.......

Fairly sure this Fort Worth Express is the Vinyl Gang version.

Why, because:

(1) Happy (from Fort Worth 1st show) is indead a AUD recording which agrees with above description from Fingerprint File review

(2) Tracklist matches Fort Worth Express

(3) "Ahmet Ertegun, Thank You Kindly" did not include Happy.

(4) "Ft. Worth Express" (slightly different title) by Turd On The Run label did not include Happy.

the sbd parts are all from the same source - and there are many ways to skin a cat.

louder doesn't mean better....

Thanks Mother!

Some weeks ago somebody already sent "Forth worth express" without Happy and Brown Sugar without intro. So that version had to be the turd on the run label or "Ahmet Ertegun, Thank you kindly".......

Jens:

Yes I remember the earlier posting of " Fort Worth Express ". It sounded somewhat muffled, not as clear as these tracks so I suspect it was the Turd On The Run version which was not worth keeping.

Now I'm a bit confused, here's the 'Ahmet Ertegun,Thank You Kindly' review from Rolling Stones FAQ:

"...I have every FtW 6/24/72 2nd board CD ever issued,
and this one is *quite clearly the best*. The VGP 'Fort Worth Express' was
the incremental leader, IMO, but AETYK is leaps better still, and doesn't have
the phony Happy that VGP inserted. The hiss reduction is finally complete,
yet the sonic details are still there through the headphones. Compare LIV and
the astounding, clean excellence of this remastering is immediately evident.
Congratulations to the chef for this major upgrade, this quantum leap. All
previous FtW releases are hissy messes compared to AETYK."

Another review said:
"Everything else released from this show is now pretty
useless... Whoever did the remastering on this title did a spectacular
job... I really can't think of anything I'd like different with this release,
bar the obvious one of being a complete show (so the audience tape is still
worth hanging on to). The single CD is bursting with exciting listening; the
pace of the performance, combined with shit-hot '72 playing, and the pristine
sound quality of this particular title are ingredients which simply can't be
beat. Very nice job indeed."

Anyway, thanks again Cafaro for this great show.
