Well, it is played in standard tuning. The capo on the 7th fret is the key.

Another misunderstanding of ignorant know-it-alls helped out the way!

Hey that's me! Haha thanks for remembering, open-G!

I'm glad the video helped, batonrouge75. I made this earlier this year (then i accidentally deleted it! and now reposted it) but at the time it had like +50,000 views.

I was getting upset at another video because he claimed that the song is in open G tuning. I wrote tons of stuff trying to explain how he was wrong on his comments section...but no one believed me. I thought I'd make a video finally putting the "mystery" to rest!

Justin! (I've always liked this guy!)

I've had so many 'debates' about this with the guitarists I've played with over the years in Stones bands (they seem to quickly forget that I'm also a guitar player when I've just got a microphone and harp in my hand). Capo on the 7th. You're absolutely correct.

Bravo, Justin, I must show this to David.

You're a good man, James! haha yeah a lot of people seem to write Keith off as someone who plays EVERYTHING in open G...which of course, is ridiculous! There are sooooo many of these kind of videos on YouTube and sometimes the wrong information is passed around.

Lemme know what your buddy David says!

There's one part he forgot which I've never figured out.Its those sweet lil chords that are delicately struck when the music slows down and all you can hear is the guitar.Does anyone know how this goes?

I'm at work so can't hear the clip yet, I'm sure it's good.

I always liked Mick Taylor's MR riffs from c.1972 (like on WTNY bootleg)), somehow compliments Keith's playing..kind of plays in between Keih's riffs.

Hansel, its all pentatonic bluesscale in b (capo 7th fret) : slide from 9thfret b-string to 10thfret and on g-string from 10th to 11th, as double or single notes, and let the high e-string ring (its b from the capo). Is it stuff like this what you mean? Excuse my unperfect english, hope you get what I mean...

batonrouge75, I KNOW it's in standard tuning capo blah blah blah. I've known that and how to play MR for almost 20 years. I was just laughing at how emphatic Justin was about that.

If it's the bit I'm thinking of it's actually a dim7 going to a B (where you would normally expect to see the E chord you replace it with the dim7). That's just heaven.

Great job Justin! It is obvious that you not only know how to play the song, but you can also communicate it to other people, which is great! There are tons of people on youtube just showing off how smart and fast and...whatever they are, but nobody can learn anything from their videos. You made your lesson as clear as possible. It is a simple blues song and it is so inspirational!

Have you made other video lessons? I would love to see them...

Edit: I have already found your videos on youtube - just one more lesson...JJF...but it is also great. Since everybody plays it in open G, it is very difficult to find this way the studio record was made and again - I think you nailed it!
