The lineup with Ronnie. Bill or Darryl doesn't matter much because they're both great. But the Ronnie one for sure. Best era with him is 1994/1995.

Hey, Ronnie era is from 1975 to 1983 (or 82/86, dependĀ“s on the interpretation). 1994/95 is perhaps the best in Chuck Leavell era...grinning smiley

I love '78, but that's mainly because I was 19 and seeing them for the first time, so it's all wrapped up in personal nostalgia. I was only 13 in '72 and did NOT see them then, but there's really no comparison. In '72 they were the best they ever were, and, in fact, the best ANY rock band has ever been.

The 78/82 area.
Umbelievable no DVD from the 78 tour, their best ever, has been released.
Don;t care for the SW + area. All the rock is gone with two very mediocre guitar players, too much background musicians, only war horse set lists and a boring bass player

All versions. it depends where my head is at. '72 version was cool but so was '65, wait moment so was '94's, can't forget 89's. They have changed shapes so many times. No matter what though, they have always been just a bar band.

1969-1972, first and foremost. Also, 1978 because I saw the Some Girl's Tour in New Orleans. It is still the most exciting concert I've ever attended. They were white hot that night.
