Reading all this stuff really makes me look forward to the Springsteen shows I have tickets for.
Does anyone have any info about the rumoured tour of the US this autumn? We're heading over in September, for 4 weeks.

While I applaud your effort Glen. I think their are a few errors. First you don't have Arcade Fire listed. Next,I'm pretty sure Badlands has been done at every show and I don't think Born In The USA has been done at all. I could be wrong. But still a nice list.

I think glen is right.
Arcade Fire? he did two songs in Montreal with 2 of the band - State Trooper and keep the Car Running, which are listed above.
he also played Factory and Raise Your Hand with the ESB at the Count Basie benefit show last month, but that wasnt a tour show.

Born in the USA was played in East Rutherford on September 28th last year.

I don't get this, Gazza.
why do you think it's a show off? "I do this to show I can do it"
to me, it's more "I do this because I WANT to do it"
it's to keep the band and himself on the edge of their seats, on their toes. and to thrill and entertain his audience in a way that he thinks is best.
the boss's declared philosophy is: "we may be playing 80 shows in 8 months, but a certain kid in the audience will only see us once in his lifetime, we want to give THAT kid the best show of his life: we play every show as if it was the last show of our career"
and maybe the only way the boss knows to force the band to play the best possible show every night, is changing the set every night and changing the opener every night.
I think he knows his stuff: he's been playing with the ESB since 1972...

Eloquently put, and you are of course 100 percent correct. In my opinion ... NO, the one show in a lifetime person's "needs" (for want of a better expression) should absolutely NOT be prioritised over the "sizeable" section of the audience who see the artist every tour, and maybe more than once.
And so to the Stones. This is perhaps where they err far too much on the side of caution. Although I'm in no way as critical as some about the element of "warhorse repetition" in their setlists, I do feel as if the setlists in general represent far too heavy of a nod to the "once in a lifetime" category of concert attendee, rather than the other. I am given to wonder though whether their perception of the crowd "mix" is actually correct. Perhaps in a stadium setting, yes ... the once in a lifetime brigade do outnumber the diehards, but in an arena setting, I wouldn't be so sure. Anyway, to cut a long story short, this is an area in which I feel (even the man does nothing for me personally) that Mr Springsteen (and his like) do in all fairness serve their faithful followers considerably better and in kinder fashion than the Stones.
You might wish to alert the good Logie to this 'ere post of mine, this is as much in the way of a conciliatory scribble on the subject of setlists/Stones/Springsteen etc as he's ever gonna get outa me, so he'd better read it and enjoy it while he can ... before big bad BV comes along and goes "o no, the tough northern bastard and the soft southern jessie are at it again - better kill this thread too"
