I just saw this thread. I'm glad your tape finally started circulating. It's quite well done. Not as good as the radio broadcasts, but far better than most of the '73 audience recordings. A must have, I think.Quote

Really interesting reading all your comments about the Sept 8th early show. It's actually my tape.

So to clear some confusion, the Devil's Breath CD is a DAC release and the Dragon's Breath (Silver Dagger source tape) is the new SODD release?
How does one know the correct speed for these tapes when refering to speed issues? Is it something your judging by your ears or a digital reading?

I assume Dragon's Breath is just a misnaming of the Devil's Breath label?

Just to make sure none of you will ever forget the correct name of the label
Yep, Belladonna is the same show (but incomplete and not from the mastertape). The Halcyon version is stereo and runs at the correct speed, and probably some EQ adjustment. Good effort indeed.Quote

Isn't this the Sister Morphine "Belladonna On A Toussaint Night" show as well?
What about the Halcyon version? They usually get things right.

I disagree. The VGP "Nasty Muzik" source of 9/9/73, as bad as it is, is definitely better than whatever SODD used. Their version is very tinny. The only thing it has going for it is that it's longer; has the introduction and end of SFM which VGP's doesn't have.Quote

The bonusdisc on the SODD release contains the London september 9th show and sounds better than the VGP release Nasty Muzik (only silver disk release from that show I know off). SODD used the tapesource that circulates in collector's/torrent circles and enhanced the sound by tweaking the high frequencies (again no improvement whatsoever).

So the winner is the Halcyon version (original stereo source, correct speed and no excessive tweaking).

yeah, Halcyon has the cut in GS. so things aint easy! seems that nobody did it right until now. but were talkin about an audience tape anyways, and thats not something a lot of people devote repeated listenings to. performance is good, but if I want to listen to Stones 1973, theres other stuff I prefer. I tend to limit myself to only a handful, sometimes only one or two shows per tour, and the others are just there to fill my racks. theres just so much good music out there (not only Stones!!!) that I most certainly will never again listen to 5 Licks shows in a row!

Latest update concerning the comparison of the diferent version of this show (Wembley 9/8/73 1st show):
The DAC 073 version turns out to be a mono version running at the correct speed.
So the winner is the Halcyon version (original stereo source, correct speed and no excessive tweaking).

Concerning stereo/mono.... I don't know, it's not really "stereo", it's just a slightly different quality of the channels - I didn't even notice that DAC doubled one of the channels.
Haven't heard the Halcyon version, but did you mean that it's better than the speed corrected Devils Breath ?
