no need for setlist whining in 1978 because warhorses were rare, new songs a plenty and those rock'n'roll covers simply great! also, the stripped-down band did not allow to dive deep into the songbook for complex arrangements like 2000 Light Years From Home.

30 years later, with a whole Stones "orchestra" on stage and a lot more material to choose from its simply not understandable that we see more or less the same show and the same arrangements since, oh, 1989.

I, along with Edith Grove, saw the Stones in New Orleans, during the 78 tour. The show I saw in that same dome for the Steel Wheel's Tour was excellent. Both of these shows were as different as night and day. Yeah, the ragged sloppiness of the 78 tour worked, but the well rehearsed 89 show was appreciated. I am certain there were poor shows during the Some Girls' tour, but New Orleans was not one of them.
