I second Lukester's post, someone PLEASE give Adrian their spare ? How the bloody hell did I get so lucky yesterday then, up came a pair of seats in block 102 of the lower tiers - which really aren't half bad for THAT late in the day ? But no sight nor sound of any more since then, not a glimpse ? Bizarre.

There had already been a few ticket drops shortly after the onsale date, Pauly. Thats probably why...and the ONLY ticket drop for Belfast was on the morning of the show itself.

Hope you get lucky Adrian - but I really think if you go to the 02, someone's bound to have a single spare at the last minute. Try there or the Pilot Inn where a lot of the fans are meeting pre-show.

Back home now... I had a wonderful time tonight. It was my first time seeing Bruce and the E Street Band, and I thought they were all fantastic...!

Some of the people I was with, however, were not so impressed. Can't understand it, but there ya go... Guess it keeps things interesting...!!

You can't please everyone. Were these veteran Bruce gig-goers then? Or people who wanted to hear the whole of Born In The USA and "that one about Philadelphia"?

It wasn't the best I've ever seen him, but it was a great gig all the same.

Nope, these were people like me who (a) had never seen Bruce before (b) do by coincidence own a copy of Born In The USA - but certainly had no wish to hear it in its entirety, and (c) having now seen him - fully understand why it was that they gave away for free at a car boot sale that triple album of his that was out god know how many years ago !!

He just doesn't do it for me, neither to listen to on album/CD, nor I have to say, to see live. Sorry folks ... but thassit !!

No and no. In this case, I'm just one of those in the "can't please everyone" category...

A minor distraction here, but seeing as what was happening on the stage at the O2 did not really hold my attention for considerable periods of time, I spent a fair while acting in that most "anorak" of fashions and looking around - left/right/above/below. Bearing in mind the difficulty Adrian-L was having in securing a last minute ticket (did you manage to get in finally Adrian ?), one thing I couldn't help but notice were not insignificant numbers of empty seats. I was in block 102, so I was kinda stunned to see empty seats in rows A/B/C right opposite me in block 111, and a hell of a lot more (almost an entire section) in those AA through HH rows in the blocks at the end of the arena right opposite the stage; I think they're 106 and 107. Also, those two tiers of corporate boxes I guess they are, couldn't help but notice that in the case of a lot of them, it looked like there were only 2/3/4 people in them, that's all. The boxes look like they hold maybe 20 odd seats, so they were by no means full.

So what's the story with these ticket sales ... Ticket f***ing master ? Well attended it might have been. But sold out ? Sold out my a** !!

i hung around the venue, like a knob, for approx an hour, up to about 7pm, by which time i was cold and pissed off.

A scumbag tout tried to offer me an upper tier seat for £250 quid,
(it was the only offer i got)
i told him, that i hoped his bollocks drop off, and reported him to security.

At which point i went home and watched 'Die Hard' on tv.

If it was as cold as it is here his bollocks probably did drop off.

Sorry you had a wasted journey though

Great gig last night, not AWE INSPIRING maybe but thats a rare event at any gig. set list wise, there are allways songs you're gonna miss so i never dwell on that too much, the new songs ( about 7 ?) stood op with the others, great to hear point blank & racing & racing in the streets but lets be honest working on the highway is a turkey by any standards and American Land is a good pogues song ( with some clear percy french inspiration) . would i go again > well i just goy my second emirates ticket.

Adrian, that's a very unfortunate thing to have read given what I say about empty seats 4 posts above this one. It just does make one question this entire ticket sales philosophy of theirs, because irrespective of (presumably) their intentions to deter touts etc etc by "staggering" ticket sales over a period of time, the bottom line is that come showtime ... an empty seat is an empty seat. All the more bloody annoying when there were significant quantities of them too, and meanwhile you were out there freezing your bollocks off and being made stupid offers !!

Baffling indeed. I was checking ticketmaster regularly yesterday to see if I could find anything to tell Adrian about and nothing was dropping. Cant understand the logic of someone acquiring tickets (by whatever means) and then either not using them or at least not giving/selling them to someone else.

Edit - just reading on one of the Bruce forums that a couple of motorway crashes on the M40 and M25 caused massive traffic delays and some fans missed the show as a result. One guy left Birmingham at 2.30 and 5 hours later (less than an hour before showtime) was still 70 miles away BEFORE the M25 closure - 5 hours to move some 40-50 miles.

That might explain a few of the vacant seats, I suppose.

Kind of reminds me of story about what happened at the final two Stones Licks shows at Wembley in 2003. The band were supposed to play on Sun 14th and Monday 15th September but what with the problems with Mick's throat, the Sunday show was brought forward 24 hours to the Saturday at a week's notice as he was under doctors orders to rest his voice for 24 hours between shows.

A coachload of fans who had booked a package deal arrived at Wembley on the Sunday evening to find the place deserted, the show having took place 24 hours earlier. Whoever had booked the trip was obviously oblivious to the change and not a single one of the 50 or so people in the coach party were aware of the reschedule. Amazing in this day and age.

He didn't do Point Blank. American Land is BAD Pogues. You ever see The Pogues? even now (well, Tuesday), they're superb.

Harvey Goldsmith "promoted" this - which means most of the tickets went to touts and very few went to the ticket agencies.

....."Point Blank" is one of my favorite Springsteen songs, but he never plays it anymore does he? He didn't play it last night did he?

The Ticket Agency I use who are VERY reliable and phone me to keep me up to date on rumoured tours were only given a tenth of their usual allocation and they were shite. They were also offered them at £75 on the day of release not £47. I took them as that was all I could get and thought I could maybe get better ones nearer the time - and so did they - but no go. We sat in 413 and although i LOVE Springsteen and have seen him many times the sound quality was terrible for the first 5 songs. I was so disappointed. I would say to anyone going to the 02 do anything in your power to get lower level seats as compared to the seeing the stones show i was not impressed with the O2.

Sorry to hear about that. Typical Harvey Goldsmith ruse - keep the best tickets for the touts and sell a few really crap seats to the agencies. The agencies shift the crap seats first, depending on the mad initial demand.

This is most curious, if only for the fact that ever since the recent Zeppelin one off show which he promoted was announced, there's been quite a few comments on this board about the way he (Goldsmith) operates; namely allocating vast swathes of decent seats for touts to sell. What I find curious, if not downright difficult to comprehend, is that this is the very man who puts himself over as a kind of "champion of the people" and makes a fair bit of noise himself about touts and how to defeat them ?

Di i ever see the pogues ????? probably more than anyone else on this board. I've known Shane since his Nips days and Phil a fair while as well. In fact I still haev a tape of their first ever gig in a north london pub somewhere. check the dodgy lilting on the end of Kitty ( on first lp pressing and remastered CDs) thats me. The Pogues are better live now that the final days before Shane left.

Of course he didnt do Point Blank, i meant Because The night, i had a flashback to the Piece De Resistance bootleg.

Harvey Goldsmith is the biggest hypocrite going. There were 8000 leftover tickets from the Zep lottery and the bulk were allocated to corporates for a huge mark-up.

A friend of mine used to work at Ticketmaster around the time of Bruce's Devils & Dust tour. He told me that all TM got from Goldsmith were a few nosebleed seats. The good ones went to the touts, who made a killing. That's how he always operates - when he can get away with it. A situation like the smaller Springsteen shows is ideal for him - a limited appearance (only one mainland UK show), huge demand, diehard fans willing (and able) to pay a big mark-up in cover prices .... He's an absolute scumbag.

The only touts Goldsmith wants to "defeat" are the ones who don't work for him.

Understandable that. It's a stunning, cortex-searing boot - so good you actually believe you were there. I'm that way about Winterland 78. Another killer version of Point Blank.

He doesn't play it regularly Lukester. Just on occasion. But it seems like if you want Springsteen to play a certain song, you show up in the front row with a sign saying play this. It's apparently worked on a couple of occasions so far on the tour.
