Other than the various Stargroves pics, are there any photos doing the rounds of the stones recording a) after the 69 tour, b) before they went to France?

The above pic sure has an Olympic Studios 1970 'feel' to it, also I see Bill has a pic of himself in Olympic Studios in his book 'Rolling with the stones'' from about this time as well.

I guess i'm meaning the sessions for Sticky Fingers(post 69 tour) - early exile sessions in the UK.

I think it's from the "Let It Bleed" sessions. Depends on who shot the pic.

For a couple of reasons I really don't think that Mick pic is from 1969.

...and I was thinking about 1972... because of Mick's semi-long hair and his shoes... but it may very well be from 1970.

There's a similar picture of Jagger in a studio on Page 169 of "The Rolling Stones Unseen Archives" with him playing a guitar and wearing the exact same shirt. His hair is identical in style.

The date is...wait for it...6th May 1974.

i'm not much of a Mick-spotter, so i really don't have a strong opinion,
but: he's got a pretty similar look in those 1970 Stargroves photos:

does that look like the same shirt as in the Unsure Shot? similar, anyway ...

My book is obviously different than yours as the page numbers don't seem to correspond. It's worth mentioning too, that both the authors and publishers of this book are not the most reliable or authoritative of sources!

However, you seem to be absolutely spot on regarding your dates. Firstly, it cannot possibly be 1974 (not with his hair THAT long!). Secondly, the 1972 Jamaica pictures clinch it!

Begs the question as to just how many incorrect photo titles are out there.

ah, sorry: on page 213 in my copy there's a photo Stu took in Australia in early 1966
and they've got it dated "november 1978". it's an okay book in some ways but ...

maybe - i'm still not sure, really. Mick has *occasionally* worn the same thing twice! :E
for example i believe he turned up in shoes like the ones in the Unsure Shot for a few years,
starting in late 68 (if memory serves). but i agree that the Unsure Shot isn't from 74.

Nah I don't think the pic matches Mick circa 72 at all. Those shoes appear many times from 1968 onwards as do many other clothing items.

He looks much the same as the Stargroves pics and also of his look during the 1970. The thing for me is whether that is from Olympic Studios or Stargroves.

I do not think that pic is from '74 at all. I think it has to be mis-credited. Mick looked like shite after the European '73 tour. He looks young and fresh in this, like he's had lots of time off. I still say Sticky Fingers... but have been known to be wrong.

There are TONS of miscredited photos out there re. years/location etc.

One of the easier ways to determine some of these shots is to find the photographer creited as mentioned earlier. That will narrow the possibilities down TREMENDOUSLY.

Yes, I got several more. But, the b&w picture looks like Olympic to mee, but the colour pictures do not. They look like Stargroves to me, if you compare them with the Led Zep pictures taken by Eddie Kramer.
