Re-release of Get Yer Ya Yas Out
Posted by: Sighunt ()
Date: September 29, 2007 07:30

Several discussions on the Beggars Banquet forum regarding fans' frustrations with why the Stones have never released their best live album in its entirety have prompted this writer to formulate an idea to get some type of mass letter writing campaign to the Stones organization expressing our interest and intent to get Ya Yas re-released with the whole show from beginning to end. I am writing to this forum (and essentially all the Stones fans out there) to see if there is interest from you to make this dream a reality....I need your help. PLease respond to my inquiry via this forum or E-mail me at Sighunt@frontiernet.net Thanks, Scott....

...most LIVE albums/CDs are never released in their entirety...bits and pieces with overdubs... You're best bet is to find the best quality bootlegs available.

As a matter of fact, "Cheap Trick LIVE at Budokan" was probably the most clever of all studio albums...

Believe it or not, Live at Leeds is an exception to this rule. The first version had no studio overdubs that I know of, just a few minor edits.

I love GYYYO but think about it, what are you REALLY going to gain? Here's the set list from the 69 tour as I remember it (left off songs that are no where to be found in lower case):

JUMPIN' JACK FLASH
CAROL
SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL
STRAY CAT BLUES
LOVE IN VAIN
PRODIGAL SON (take it off GIMME SHELTER DVD bonus tracks)
You Gotta Move
Under My Thumb (there is the ALTAMONT version on GIMME SHELTER - cut out the intro jabber and use that one)
I'm Free (not played at many shows)
MIDNIGHT RAMBLER
LIVE WITH ME
Gimme Shelter (live version on GIMME SHELTER DVD - NOT played at MSG shows. The one on the DVD must be ALTAMONT)
LITTLE QUEENIE
SATISFACTION (Take it off the GIMME SHELTER DVD)
HONKY TONK WOMEN
STREET FIGHTING MAN

So, the only songs that are TOTALLY lost are YOU GOTTA MOVE and I'M FREE (only played once at MSG anyway). Mix Ya-Ya's and the GIMME SHELTER film DVD soundtrack and you will have the entire show minus 1 or 2 songs. No need to have it officially released which will probably never happen anyway.

>> You Gotta Move ~ Under My Thumb ~ I'm Free <<

... what do you mean by "nowhere to be found"? those are in circulation,
including renditions from MSG

I mean "officially" to be found. Sighunt can make his own "complete" Ya-Ya's by mixing the CD and the GIMME SHELTER DVD (but like I said, YOU GOTTA MOVE and I'M FREE will be missing) If there's a soundboard , Stereo 69 MSG Boot I've never heard it. I have a good quality audience vinyl boot with those songs on there I believe but that's it. I wouldn't mix high quality stereo soundboard and so so audience boot to make a complete concert, but that's me, I'd leave off those 2 songs.....

Im still looking for the version of Little Queenie thats been overdubbed on GYYYO. Its available on Devils Disciple, so Im told, but i have yet to find it. Anyone can help? Once I have it I will have my own undubbed version of GYYYO, plus a couple of bonus tracks (Undubbed Prodigal Son from GS for ex).

according to nzentgraf.de, Little Queenie is from the first november 28th show (at MSG, that is).
isn't Devils Disciple the Baltimore show?

With Sssoul, Little Queenie from MSG is a bonus track on Devils Disciple.

As HelterSkelter I think the idea of a "complete" Ya-Ya's isn't a big deal. To
add a few songs to the original (overdubbed) 10 tracks doesn't make sense at all.
You can't compare this with Live At Leeds - the Who did only one show and over the years more and more songs were released until the deluxe-edition offered the
entire concert.

But what about a set like Deep Purple's Made/Live In Japan. As far as I can remember they took recordings from 2 shows for the Made In Japan double but a few years ago all 3 Japan shows were released on a tripple CD-box - now that's a deal, isn't it?!

I'm only dreaming and this dream will never come true but imagine a special collector's edition on 6 CDs with Baltimore, NYC 1+2+3 & both Boston shows - all of them were recorded. 6 gigs without overdubs in soundboard quality, oh God....

Mick knew about Too Many Cooks on YouTube when he was filmed for the Bonus-DVD - maybe somebody tell's him about this idea here? ;-)

cheers
silkcut

Yes but do we really need a rerelease of GYYYO? I mean really, the new stuff will have Mick overdubs, and naturally Mick Taylor and Bill Wyman will be overdubbed with Ronnie and Darryl, respectivly.
