In the mail today!
Posted by: Fiji Jim ()
Date: September 25, 2007 22:31

Sometimes you get pleasantly surprised! In the mail today my membershipcard, bigger bang cap and the "promise " of a DVD sometime in a hopefully not to distant future. Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy about this, wearing the cap as I'm writing this, but it's a bit too late to restore my faith in the official fan club. It's amazing how something so full of potential could be so utterly misstreated. The basic meaning of a fan club, i.e something for the fans, is clearly not understood by the people running it.

but the cap was nice....so I will probably renew my membership.

I'd have preferred access to some better tickets than those on offer.

I recieved the same nonsense in the post first thing this morning. What a waste of time. A poorly made American baseball cap and the promise of a DVD in the future? I am not American, nor have I ever played or expressed any interest in baseball. I joined their fan-club to get the best tickets (god, was I was mistaken). I bought tickets in their pre-sales for five shows and still managed not to get within 15 rows of the stage. Maybe instead of passing off tat like baseball hats they should give us priority tickets.

This could only be trumped by a baseball cap worn sideways.

They really are just for Americans, Knackers and Chavs.

I am an American but not much of a baseball fan, More of a BBC-American as the adverts say. So what's a Knacker and a Chav, Guv?

I'm tired, I'm tired of doing what I'm told.
Things are moving way too slow.

A Knacker is like pikey and gypo another word for itinerant/Traveller.

Run a google search for chav. Think along the lines of Vicky Pollard!

what type of dvd are you expecting?
i haven't joined the "fan club" ...what other kind of loot
do you get? will the dvd be a pro-shot concert that
has not been released to the general public?

what sort of DVDs have they given fan club members in the past?

IORR............but I like it!

>> what sort of DVDs have they given fan club members in the past? <<

the previous one consisted of rs.com video clips and Four Flicks outtake-type stuff
plus (rather incongruously) a clip from the 89 Atlantic City show (which i already have).
it's nice, but not fall-down-radiantly-hollering-hallelujah material

I got my hat & card about a month ago. Am still awaiting the DVD.

I'm having a dilemma here....
I don't want a lousy cap - nor a silly card. It's such a cheap excuse for charging 100 euro for a membership. I don't even want the Cohl-made DVD....
Yet; I have not recieved anything. But I feel the need of complaining to rs.com, saying that I'm missing those "gifts" - even though I don't want them.
WHy is that ?

Got my cap + membership card + promise for DVD today, too.

I think the cap is a nice memorabilia for the tour.
This is my 10th Stones-Cap (1995-2007).

a few more

baseball cap on sideways

baseball cap with price tag still attached (this seems to be the latest trend with the down with it yoofs INNIT)

Baseball cap adjusted so that so it sits precariously on top of the head, i see a young dad bringing his son to school with this trendy configuration every day, the dad now and not the son !

well, in my opinion this membership is a total rip off. You won´t get anything you would buy if it´s sold, believe me. Maybe the card with your name on it. But is it worth the money??
I´m a hardcore fan of the stones, really, and I buy most of the stuff, merch etc. wich is available but to be a member of this fan club is totally unsatisfying.
Anyaway, enjoy if you want

Brilliant. Employ cheap labour to make a cap and then 'give' it away for $100. Inspired marketing.

Mine is here, never have worn baseball caps, never will. Complain away Erik, you are welcome to my baseball cap. Then you really WILL have something to complain about - it's horrible!

Hmmmm that sounds like a good idea Stargroves - about you sending me your cap, it means that I can send my complaints in 2 directions - which is an excellent oppurtunity for my crabby ways
