Decca/Universal confirmed the release of Rolled Gold in CD on November 12 in UK and Europe. It could be released in US too, not confirmation yet.

It comes with a new cover art and 40 songs, 12 more than the original 1975 version. Also a 4LP set will be released the same day.

This was the compilation that originally go me into the stones. Much better than hot rocks or 40 licks as an intro to the band IMO. I bought it on 2nd hand tape.

I still remember the time I put on side 4 and heard HTW for the first time (it was 1st song on that side of the record). My life changed forever. Anyway, here's the original track listing.

Unbeatable compilation of the Stones in my opinion.

What about the original cover?

This was the first Stones LP that I bought , age about 16 . A great compilation and I lost count of how much play time it got in my bedroom .
Fav tracks at the time - Time is on my Side , UMT , LSTNT and all of Side 4 .

No chance of them using that one!

Three ex-band members in it!

I suppose they could still use it and just airbrush the bottom half of it out

I don't want the original one airbrushed with Ronnie over Brian, Chuck over Bill and Cohl over Mick Taylor.

Another way for Allen Klein to make money! Hot Rocks and More Hot Rocks were both ABKCO releases and now this is almost those two double albums put together!

is this going to be a sacd issue,i have a russian copy with some extras on already but a new crisp version would be nice to have .it was very popular when it was originally out,lots of favourites for the masses.
perhaps we might get'' no 2 '' re released as well, then who knows what we could expect after that.

for many of us, this is our first touch with the stones... for me too
when I putted Come On, my life was changed...

I doubt that this re-release has anything to do with the stones anyway!

I can't really see the point of this in addition to 40 Licks, Singles Collection, Big Hits - High Tide and Green Grass and Hot Rocks / More Hot Rocks. OK so there's a slightly different track list but these compilations are meant to get new fans into a band and not really for song collectors who probably have all the songs on albums / singles etc anyway. OK so it is a great collection, but it makes no real sense to have it in addition to all the other greatest hits albums. I'd rather they release a DVD of their videos for the songles (similar to Video Rewind).

exactly, another pointless release

An easy cash in release for the Christmas season, it will sell good.

I am glad to be part of the bunch who got into Stones with this compilation. Not interested in this reissue at all but every time I see the original cover I remember the magic of discovering stones.

I can remember being at an AC/DC concert at the Liverpool Empire and hearing almost the entire Rolled Gold album being played over the PA system.

Some kids behind me were taking the p**s out of "Lady Jane".

Bastards.

I don't think Abkco is making the SACDs anymore - they had the digipaks while the DSD remastered 'regular' CDs seem to be in stabdard jewel cases...Correct me if I'm wrong. Hope this isnt out in the US, these comps don't help casual fans get past Hot Rocks 1, 40 Licks, Jump Back, etc...Especially when record stores rarely carry deep catalog anymore.

Pretty much all of the record stores I've been to carry most of the Stones catalog.Department stores like K Mart and more so Target carry only a few big titles.

This is a joke.There are only about five songs here not on the "Singles Collection" 3 cd set.If they are going to release this,they should delete both Hot Rocks and both Big Hits sets.They're wasting space in the Stones section of record stores with cds containing the same songs.What happened to the BBC sessions?At least that would be something from the '60's not already available.

Not a joke but I'm with you - time to delete the useless Hot Rocks/Big Hits CDs. They never had the class of the British releases.

So I'm really looking forward to this release - at least one classic compilation in the stores :-)

Even if this is a compilation we could live without, it seems that we are going to have a couple of stereo versions we haven't had before. This could have been the perfect time to give us all stereo versions possible, but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen this time either.
