I think it probably had to do with many of the shows being outdoors and in stadiums. Plus, remember that the tour ended on Dec. 19th. The Stones were on the road throughout Oct., Nov., and most of December, not the warmest months of the year in America. After the sun goes down, it gets even colder.
Plus, I've always figured that it had something to do with the lighting.
Seattle was at night but it was indoor at the Kingdome; both weeknight shows. Probably only the weekend shows were during the day, I know San Francisco were both Saturday and Sunday shows and were daytime shows. Anaheim in 1978 was daytime as well.
Frankly, I liked the day shows and still enjoy it in Europe when the shows start while it is still daylight even though it is 9:30 PM!

I can't understand why anyone would have an outdoor stadium show in the daytime. When you're playing a place that large, you need something more than just your music and your charming personality. You need lots and lots of lights and smoke and explosions and shit like that. All that stuff looks better at night.

First show was weeknight, second day started at 1400.

A lot of the shows in Europe - held in mid summer - took place in the afternoon/early evening as well.

I didn't hear anyone complaining at the time. I only hear people bitch now that the shows are at night and cost an arm and a leg.
I think seeing them in the daylight hours would be cool. Aren't many of the European shows starting during daylight hours?

William had Perks but finally those vamp chicks Sucked on his Jugular too hard and sucked Too Much Blood out of him. Now he Can't Be Seen on the daylight and goes out only when Moon Is Up. How Terrifying...
