Not too many surprises there, but it looks like a solid set for sure. I thought by now someone would have leaked some audio from the rehearsal where all the photos were taken. I'll be going to the show here in Calgary if they can hold it together for that long.

I must say that if the prices are reasonable, I'd go to see them next year in Europe.

I am a warhorse guy when it come to Van Halen

its in the list

they could lose Im On Fire, Im The ONe and Atomic Punk (IMO)

too many songs from VH1

they could add Take Your Whiskey Home and Sinners Swing

but, while 'warhourse' heavy, there are big suprises IE Secrets, Little Guitars, Romeo Delight and So This Is Love

It wont be the tour of the year if the leave out

Just a Gigilo

or maybe DLR will just look the part of the old tired Rock star Gigilo.

Lots of issues to overcome in my mind, but maybe they'll somehow rally.

Re: OT : Van Halen set list

Whats the over/under on how many shows these clowns will perform before the tour comes too a grinding halt. The best thing about this VH tour is the potential for it too spontaneously combust onstage. Tix prices seem reasonable, however, I always felt VH was a pile of rubbish. One of the most over-rated bands of all time.

Well I think the least we can do is to keep this thread going to give these old geezers as much help as possible in getting their tour underway.

So if citing the fact that Dave Lee Roth was a Stones fan is a quasi vindication of not incurring the wrath of the guardians of on-topic posts does this mean that we can big up other bands who have or have had members who are/were Stones fans?

There are one or two other bands, well several hundred who could easily qualify for details of upcoming gigs/ tours etc.

VH's problem in the past is each musician does a 20 minute solo (or so it seems) so they may end up playing 10 songs in a almost 2 hour set if lucky. I hope they can get past that. Cream use to play 9 songs in a 90 to 100 minute set (farewell tour) but when they came back in 05 the songs were shorter and they played a lot more of them. Hopefully VH will do the same.

Agreed, the solos at a VH show have always been CRAZY and LONG
I would still bet there is a long Eddie Solo and a shorter Alex solo (probably the intro to Hot For Teacher)
probably no Wolfie (unless he is WITH his dad... I don't think they would send him up alone)

the set list seems pretty long, but I am sure they will be pairing down a few tunes.

ya know, Take your whiskey home is missing and lesser songs are in the set.
I wonder if the absence of Whiskey and other songs... like Bottoms Up are due to the REHAB Eddie.
Maybe he doesn't want any booze tunez

I saw the real Van Halen open for the Stones on the 78 and 81 tours. Damn fine opening act! This incarnation of VH should have happened 10 years ago.

Considering their's about 30 songs listed,I would seriously doubt it.

If that's an actual setlist, it's a good one. Pretty much what I expected -- similar to their 1983 and 1984 sets but with a good bunch of more songs added, not unlike DLR's recent solo tours (where he played Mean Streets and such songs). I agree there's a tad too much of VH1 (10 songs...pretty much the whole album), and I would've loved to see more from Fair Warning (e.g. Hear About It Later) or VH2 (Light Up The Sky, Women In Love, etc.). Cool to see Secrets and Little Guitars. I'd say they got a much better setlist than the Stones '05-07 sets. For some reason, Van Halen's material is not quite as divided between worn out war horses (though there's definitely some obvious war horses in their catalog) and "rarities". There are few songs from Van Halen that I don't wanna hear live.

i'd like to see DOA added
like the rest, except On Fire and Atomic Punk

I agree, they probably wont do every one of those songs. Roth told the crowd at the reheasals that the only this set in stone was the opener and the encore, the rest was still being arranged and the order still being decided.

STILL
looks good so far.

I got into the show last night at the Forum, after a couple of my friends had also seen them there last week. They were very tight and Wolfgang is working out very well for the band. The show last night came it at around 2 hours, 5 minutes. They all seemed to be enjoying themselves and you could see smiles between the guys. Late in the show, David made the comment "Van Halen, 3/4 original, 1/4 inevitable." While I'd have preferred having Michael with the band, they still sounded great.

Went ot the show last night in Calgary and it was actually very good, Dave was over the top on some of his antics but I expected that. The sound was very tight with few miscues ... I must be getting old because it was LOUD, but I guess that's how to best enjoy this band. No regrets ... a great time and brought back some fond memories.

Saw this at the Garden and it SMOKED!!

They sounded tight and Dave's voice was better than I was anticipating. Eddie is clearly enjoying himself and his playing was white hot.

It appears most of these shows are complete sellouts and they have added another leg starting in January '08. The prices on eBay are pretty high so clearly demand is there.

All the naysayers...........
