Five worst/most overrated bands IMHO:

1) The Stone Roses
2) Primal Scream
3) Guns "n" Roses
4) Tangerine Dream
5) Supertramp

True confessions Elmo - the first ever 45 i bought with my hard won 7 shillings and sixpence was "I'm a Believer" by the Monkees and I still think that it's a great pop song - and Neil Diamond aside Mike Nesmith was no slouch when it came to coming up with catchy tunes.

Malcolm McClaren must have been similarly impressed as one of The Sex Pistols early covers was "I'm Not Your Stepping Stone".

So yes I'll recant on the Partridge Family and offer up "Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick and Titch" instead.

But then "Xanadu" was kinda catchy too.

The Partridge Family did have a lot of great hits, many of which Elmo lists. And the Monkees were great as well. I can take either of them over the Beatles.

Aint this beginnin' to become just a tiny tiny little bit ridiculous.. ?

4. The Doors
5. Bon Jovi

Overrated, predictable, prententious, boring - all of them. I have never been able to understand the appeal of any of them. I am sure there is more than a few people who say that about the Stones.

The five worst bands are five bands that were so bad that they never got a record deal and none of us have ever heard of them. All the bands listed so far at least had something going for them to get signed, but there's tons of terrible bands out there that can't even get that far.

4. The Doors


Overrated - may be.
predictable - hardly.
prententious - no doubt.
boring - wouldnt think so.

3. Bon Jovi
4. Coldplay
5. Dr Hook

Eagles (I despise this band)
Bruce Springsteen and the E-street band.

Journey
Loverboy
