I don't know why but that stupid monkey man stood there on the corner in the rain drinking gin from this huge Loving Cup. I yelled to him, "Get Yourself Together", you're as frazzled as a jigsaw Puzzle. I took his hand, walked over to the nearest house and said "gimme shelter".

Soft side of Helter my dear CC - I LOVE half of SATANIC MAJESTIES - SING THIS SONG/CITADEL/2000 MAN/RAINBOW/LANTERN - well, kinda/2,000 LIGHT YEARS FROM HOME + Great Cover, a very over looked album IMHO (probably cause it has a couple REALLY BAD songs on it - Kinda like DIRTY WORK in a way - not much middle ground)

Doesn't SING THIS SONG ALL TOGETHER and CAN YOU HEAR THE MUSIC kinda connect in a weird way? I always thought so....

I feel a need to pipe up in my own defense.

Yeah, I picked mostly warhorses for my 5 (Tumbling Dice, Brown Sugar, Gimme Shelter, Jumpin' Jack Flash and The Last Time with Honky Tonk Women as a runner-up). But I'm thinking about the studio versions of these songs, which to my ears are all perfect recordings.

The live versions don't always match the originals. In a concert, I'd take a raretie or never-was like Let It Loose or Silver Train over a tame Tumbling Dice or Gimme Shelter drained of its menace every time.

And I guess I should replace JJF with Sympathy for the Devil.

This is why although I'm always drawn to lists, creating them is futile.

Here's one to fulfill ELMO's request (I need another ice coffee to do justice to this)

Time waits for no one when you have the stray cat blues, me, being the salt of the earth, was looking for some hot stuff, I went to the cat house,knocking with the secret knock and getting no response, I wondered...can't you hear me knockin?

Ave Maria was song that the doorbell played as the button was pressed firmly under my thumb. “If only somebody would come to the door”, I thought while standing at the side door of the rectory, “they would be able to gimme shelter from the sway that Satan has on me." While standing there for what seemed an eternity watching the minutes pass by, I realized that time waits for no one when they have sympathy for the devil himself.


p.s. It's the Ya Ya's version of SFTD that is my favorite.
