hampden park glasgow 1990.

good show which got better as it went on,

murrayfield edinburgh 1999.

excellent show from start to finish.

both gigs in the scottish summer, with the weather in the days leading up to them very hot, but unfortunatly on the nights of each concert it was cold.

Philadelphia 81 is good fun, the 2nd concert being the best, IMO
I didn't see them before 1990

If you think '72 is the best, then pick up Ladies and Gentlemen, the Rolling Stones. If you can find it. I watched it the other day and I admit it was better than expected. 1975 through 1981 (or 2) were NOT their best sounding years as far as live recordings go.

first show 69 LA Forum
2nd show 72 same venue
and so on...

Mobile, Alabama 1972. As a 15 year old usher, I had to be there at 330pm. I remember a bus pulling up, and unloading with cops in full riot gear. Wo

journey was booed off the stage in '81?
did they suck...or was everybody hungry for the stones?
how was thorogood received?..he puts on a good show (IMO).

prince was booed off too.....he wasn't that well-known in '81....but
i assumed it was simply because he wasn't THE STONES..right?

IORR............but I like it!

I was there in Philly (2nd show), and as I recall, the front man for Journey said something imbecilic like "We are like the American Rolling Stones!"...That was NOT well received, to say the least. The guy sitting right next to me was making an audience recording with a mic stand and 2 microphones, in front of God(?) and everybody. Everytime I would shout-out, he would ask me to chill, as I was pegging his meters...too funny!

L@G is one of the best livedocuments there is of the Stones, and easily found. 1975 to 1982 not the best sounding as far as live recordings go? Plenty of excellent soundboards around, ever heard of Handsome Girls just as an example? What´s your preferences?

And I think tat2you meant what thoughts we have about the first Stones gig we ever saw, for me it´s the 2 shows in Gothenburg 1982. Last true guitar tour in my opionon, they blew my mind, of course, I had been waiting 9 years to see them.

I have only heard the few commercially available shows from that era 75 - 82. And while I attended the shows and was very satisfied, I remember listening to recordings and felt that Jagger especially was not at the top of his game. Especially that show they did from MSG I think it was 81, they sounded awful.
When I am at the show itself, they always sound great, to me.

Amsterdam 1 '98

I couldn't care less if they played a good show, i saw them for the first time and was blown away just by the exitement!
I think they had a good show though that night.

Cheers,
Wuudy
