I guess with a live DVD, there is more of a concert experience than with a recording. So if Jagger says they'll stick with the DVD format for live releases from now on, that's fine by me.

Yeah.I've always thought that a live cd is better than no live cd ('71,'72,'73,'78,'99) but,a DVD only is not a big problem anymore with programs like DVD Audio Extractor and A1 DVD Ripper etc..

Having said that,a live cd from this tour wouldn't be the end of the world if it were put together properly (selections of songs, performances, under control editing, overdubbing, and mixing).

It would be hard not to buy a cd like this :

1) Jumping Jack Flash ~ (not on a live cd in over 16 years)
2) All Down The Line ~ (live officialy as an old rare b-side only)
3) She's So Cold
4) Oh No,Not You Again
5) Sway
6) Loving Cup or Far Away Eyes etc.
7) As Tears Go By
8) Back Of My Hand
9) Rain Fall Down
10) Midnight Rambler ~ (not on a live cd in 37 years)
11) A Cover ~ (GUSU,NTITRT,MP,C&R)
12) The Worst or This Place Is Empty or You Got The Silver
13) Connection or Little T & A or Infamy or even BTMMR (live off. b-side only)
14) Rough Justice
15) Get Off Of My Cloud ~(no official live version in over 30 years) or Shattered*
16) Honkey Tonk Women ~ (to make up for Live Licks version)
17) Sympathy For The Devil ~ (not on a live album in over 16 years)
18) She Was Hot

* Shattered hasn't been on a live cd since Still Life.

All songs would be new to an official live cd except as noted.I would buy it but,it's not likely to be handled properly or even to be released at all at this point.

The liner notes on 'Rarities' are so inaccurate the guy could well have been thinking about The Beatles when he wrote them

I don't care about what songs are on it as long as they search for the best performance. It should be the Stones at their best...

...their best -from the A Bigger Bang World Tour.

The best from the ABB world tour, yes,I agree with that but,the song selection matters too.It would be pointless to release yet more live versions of songs from Live Licks and No Security such as Paint It Black,Gimme Shelter, and Start Me Up.Other songs, even Bitch, would be more welcome for a new live release at this point.

from nick,

for once i wouldlove to see live versions of all down the line, bitch, some girls, undercover of the night, off my cloud, you got the silver,of course i could go on and on, but i was really disappoinged that the above songs were not on live licks, they could have also put on stray cat blues, hand of fate as well

Some Girls,Cloud, and You Got The Silver were not performed on the Licks Tour but,all six of those were performed on the ABB Tour even though Some Girls and Undercover Of The Night were only played at the Beacon Theater.

It was an exciting tour. One of only two in which they were on a "Let's just do the new stuff" kick ('69 is the other), but a live '78 album makes no sense to me. It would just be Some Girls live, and a half dozen warhorses that already appear on multiple live albums, in some cases, on three or four live albums!
