Marvellous stuff!!

Many people bitch and moan, but, the day the stones pack it in, or one of the current core members passes away, and that is it... We are all going to be devastated. And we all know it.

Enjoy the sheer beauty of the Rolling Stones while we still can.

When Keith walks on stage and hits the first chords of whatever song they're opening with, there is an excitement that you can't get any other (legal) way.

But they'll keep on rolling, forever... In our blood, in our mind, in our souls...

Funny thing that - a thread called "What do you hate about the Stones?" gets 81 replies, while a thread about why we still love'em only counts 34 (35 including this)....go figure?? ;-)

Actually, Mofur there is a reason for this and that is that in the majority of cases ordinary normal people generally think of the negative. It's down to your dendrite construction within the thinking patterns of your brain.

It automatically follows that optimists and positive thinkers generally concentrate of the positive things in life, whilst pessimists and negative thinkers move toward the negatives in life - so it does not suprise me that the ratio is as you described.

Just watch any sitcom on TV and you will notice that negative statements and gestures outnumber positives by sometimes 20 to 1.

Of course, we are the optimists, who see the beautiful view instead of the mucky window and rise and shine, rather than rise and whine each morning and cling to the hope that our heroes will continue to perform as the Greatest Roll & Roll Band for years to come.

Stay Motivated.

because of the beautiful broad-spirited way they keep trying to coax all our dendrites to light up -
let me hear you say ~*YEAH!*~
come on darlin let me hear you say ~*YEAH!*~

(LoFL: you don't have to mean it)

i think they still perform cos if they stopped, they know they would regret it.

i dont think they do it for the money.

they have more than they could ever hope to spend.

Maybe not JUST for the money.....

there has to be another reason besides $$$ that keeps the stones rolling. the only things I can think of are Ego or Fun.

People have been asking why the stones don't "retire" for 30 or so. I remember Keith answering at one point something to the effect of " Well, making music is the only thing we know how to do. I mean what else am I gonna do? Retire and open a Laundramat?" smiling smiley

(hehe-or patent a metal detector)

Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I want to get lost in your rock and roll
And drift away

As Keith said:
"There's the sun and the moon and there are The Rolling Stones."
That's all you really need.

in the documentary Let It Bleed Victor Bockris tries real hard to get this said:
"We lived through a situation in the '40s when 100 million people got killed in like six years because of insane greed.
And the Rolling Stones came along [and they] wiped out the hate and horror and fear that came after the Second World War,
and they put something positive on the plate: They said: 'Hey!' They said: 'Let's have sex!'"

yeah they sure did and they sure do - hear it for a thousand miles!

Still on the road and the music!!

A few reasons
Date: May 5, 2007 17:23

I need the Stones, to keep me Happy! It's that simple, the Stones make me happy! Seeing them over and over recharges my batteries and energizes me! They make life enjoyable.

When all else fails and life gets me down, I turn up the volume and blast Pain Of Love or Bitch or Little T&A and those problems fade away quickly! The lyrics put it all into perspective, about living life, and what people go through, and how we all relate to and tolerate each other.

One more reason, and I've been saying this for years, my motto: STONE'S PEOPLE ARE THE BEST PEOPLE! It's so true, I've met the best people on earth because of The Stones.
