Whether or not it's true isn't really the point, as some have said. It is simply a sickening and depraved statement. If you think it's funny to make a joke to people that you would actually actually snort the ashes, mixed with cocaine, of someone you love, take a hard look at yourself. Is it really that you think it's funny, or is it just defend Keef no matter what.

It's sick, it doesn't get much sicker. If he had lost a child a couple of years ago, would you think it's funny to hear him say he snorted his child with some coke?

Matt Lauer's having fun with it on the Today Show. Talking about how Keith has a great sense of humor.

Great clips of the Julliard performance, too.

That's disgusting!

I blame it all on the hair implants or possibly the do-rag/poltus.

It's hard to say just what is in that do-rag/poltus seeping in to his brain.

it could be one of the side-effects, for sure.

It's not about whether it's true or not OR wether it's funny or not, it's about whether one should get heated up over this remark, because of one's OWN values. In other peoples values he said, or did, nothing wrong. You cannot hold Keith responsible for sentiment of other people. We don't live in a world that shares many common values, whether you or I like it or not. Take a look at what our culture (economics/politics/ideology) does.

There also is no point in comparing dead fathers with dead children, because then you presume that the ashes itself have somekind of value, which varies with the tragedy. I mean, did he snort/joke about the respect for his father, or did he snort the memory of his father? No, he snorted/joke about ashes. Material. It does not mean anything more than that. Material. It's up to Keith and his family to add value, or don't add value to ashes.

Is it up to us to judge about that? No, we/the people that represent us in politics do worse things, we should be busy judging them if we have spare time.

There were stories like that about Mick's penis, Dogshit in the Doorway, fuzz about Neocon, Keef's joke about Charlie's kemo and it seems that the Rolling Stones are still the kings of marketing or what the hell it is: everybody speaks about the Stones! It is even in the news headline on Tv and radio...

Heard it this morning. Jane Rose said that the statement was made "in jest" (Whatever that means). A more funny story you can't find.

Dont agree. If he did it, its his own business. Personally, I find it embarrassing for him that - at his age - he's that desperate for publicity. To a generation of people who have no clue about what his contribution to music has been he'll just be forever known as that wrinkly old madman who snorted his dad's ashes.

No one in the media is pillioring him for it that I can see - the general tone seems to be more ridicule than anything else. Which is worse. And you can bet that Jane Rose's hasty (and quite believable) detraction that it was all a bit of fun will be all but ignored

It just goes to show that they haven't lost their ability to make scandals. A thing they learned from the Loog.

I don't think Keith wants attention, I just think he was bored/just said something to shock the interviewer. I do agree that it is embarrassing to say something like that because there is not much that keeps young people from thinking the same about Keith than about any other mad old snorter. There is not much -> they do not know what he has accomplished, like you said.

That the media is making fun of him hurts me, and it means I get questions again from friends about what I see in the Stones. It makes me feel like I need to defend him. But, what I aimed at, where the reactions on this board, not in the media: the moral judgements. How sick it would be if it is true, or how sick it is to joke about something like that. My posts are about the content of the remark, not about whether he should or should not have kept his mouth shut.

It'll all blow over (punn?) by tomorrow. No one really cares what celebs say anymore? Most will just perceive it as a joke or being a prat.....

LOL..if John were still around, no doubt he'd whine that "as usual we did it first and the Stones did it three months later.."

Some on here take life WAAAAAAY too seriously. This was a joke! May not be funny to all, but a joke nonetheless.

If you want to be serious, think about the real meaning of this week-end - a lot more important than bunnies and eggs (and Keith snorting Bert).

It's sorta along the lines of in "Meet the Parents" when Ben Stiller accidently knocks over the urn with the ashes of Robert DeNiro's mother's ashes, and the cat starts using it as a litter box....

Leave it to the NY Post for the cover of the day or perhaps year.....

Even the UK rags like the SUN can't top that one....

I think Keith, when he´s changed strings for the last time, should be a comedian with his own show. He could invite guests and surely get them to talk...
He´s been everywhere, he´s seen everything, and he isn´t afraid of what people might think of him. It would be great.
