Shame you guys in the UK don't have a (Wembley) stadium concert to go to. I still don't understand this, especially as Wembley was cancelled last year.

very kind of you to sympathize, but it wasn't cancelled, it was transplanted.

OK, well they intended to play Wembley last year, why not do it this year?

Well, it's nice to have a smaller venue instead of a stadium. Hopefully the sound will be better indoors too.

I took 2 seats for the 23rd August show. Even at 150 £, I don't think I picked up good ones ( the chart is simply the worst I 've ever seen ). Dilemna was simple : a) would I miss what could be the last 2007 concert with Mick, Keith and Charlie. b) would I bet on a 25 th of August show and thus pass. I did not hesitate : take them.

You all should just wait for the Four-Pack-with-free-T-Shirts offer. Those Dodger Stadium seats were some of the best Stones seats I've ever had!winking smiley

Getting Stones tickets for some reason is the absolute worst. Is the the promoters' fault? I've never seen such hassles with other artists.

Well, for some reason they topped the artists income list last year. Could be because they're creative when it somes to pricing tickets. Yes, 150 BGP for a ticket, but in order to get permission to buy it, you have to pay for a membership, and thats 100 USD. I'd say that's creative. And the promotors don't get any of the fan club membership fees.

I think all the major touring artists have membership schemes(scams) which get you into pre-sales.

This sure is not making me happy! Very reminiscent of what we, in the USA, went through last fall. I am still thinking about coming over for the shows in London but I already know I'll have to find a broker! I may get lucky and find a ticket on the day of the show but I never wait that long! Fear of getting left out! I still have to find someone to go with me!

I'd say, for anyone who wants a great show in a great city: go to paris, no ticket problems there...
But I can imagine you want to see the Stones 'at home', in an arena. Although 23.000 isn't exactly intimate, but that's something else.

I'm reading all the O2 threads, and I feel sorry for the dirt you have to work through to get decent seats. I hope you'll all succeed and wish you good luck!

Not all of them, and some that do actually take care of the fans reasonably cheaply.

Anything with Cohl's name associated with it is a different matter entirely though, with (from my personal experience) the Stones' one not only being the priciest, but also the most fan-unfriendly and most inept.

Dylan cares about his fans. In fact, he appreciates return custom. As do The Who and even Prince, who was - I think - the first mainstream artists to do the priority seat via fanclub thing. When I saw him in 2002 we not only got sdeats in the first five rows of the Hammersmith Apollo, BUT we got access to the soundcheck (after he'd finished, he talked to fans), PLUS free entry to an aftershow at the Marquee (now the Islington Academy). The cost - $100 for the fanclub (you also got FOUR CDs - two download-only albums, an exclusive fanclub only album and a free copy of the three CD live boxset he released), plus the tickets. Can you imagine The Stones doing ANY of that?

Paulywaul found this out yesterday and its in another thread. withouit looking it up, I believe that there are 50 seats in block C, with the b-stage taking up about 29 of them (seats 11-39 I think). Seats 1 and 50 are the outside seats, so seat 10 in C1 and seat 40 in C3 would be the seats closest to the b-stage.

What options do fans in the USA have for obtaining tickets for the O2?

Day of the show......touts/scalpers?

or

Friends in the UK that might help out?

Suggestions would be appreciated.

There is always EBay, although the O2 seats that have so far gone up aren't floor seats.

The point is that The Stones are a business rather than a band. It's all about the numbers, not the people. They're not concerned whether you've been following them for 40 years or just 4 days. What they are concerned about is getting as much money as possible out of you. If all the fanclub members and all the members of IORR and Shidobee decided to boycott the shows on ethical grounds - tickets too high, getting screwed over seats etc, etc - there would still be plenty of people willing to go and see them, and pay those prices, and take whatever cramped plastic baby potty seat they were given. There's magnetism in mythology. The Stones wouldn't give two f.ucks whether they were playing to long-term fans or fly by nighters who are there out of curiousity.

Philip Norman, in his less than flattering bio of The Stones, compared the band to a giant ATM Jagger goes to whenever he needs a few extra million. Harsh but true - and not just of him. Who the hell takes Keith's "rebel pose" at all seriously these days, especially in the light of the fact that he's a company director in a global corporation.

Still, on the night, when they hit the stage and strike up the chords of whatever the opening number will be - I'm hoping it will be The Last Time - all of this ticket bullshi.t will just be a bad memory.

Easy for you to say. Youre not the one being ripped off. A lot of people feel, with some justification, that theyve been shat on from a great height here and treated differently to fans in other countries.
