IORR just got faster today!
Posted by: bv ()
Date: March 27, 2007 23:46

IORR is as per day connected to internet with 4x bandwidth, i.e. you should be able to read IORR four times faster. If you have a real high speed connection with 10+ megabit/sec. IORR has always had a design goal to be fast, for 10 years now on internet, with not so much graphics, but the 4x speed should make the IORR pages even faster. PS. The IORR Forum will still be limited by the database and app-server, in need of more power one day, but overall you should experience a faster IORR as of today.

I'm allready dizzy from reading so fast winking smiley

good news.

Can you tell us with how much RAM the server is currently running?

Which hopefully means that I spend 25% of the time on IORR tomorrow, compared with yesterday. Or does it not work like that...? ;-)

Great news BV, although I never experienced slow times on IORR, only a database failure from time to time.

And a T-shirt page up and running... well done. Did you find any time to get yourself some tickets too? Don't answer, it is not meant as a serious question.

Thanks, bv...the connection is so fast and the words are going by 4 X faster!! It's blinding speed! I can't read the print...SLOW DOWN!!! Ok...ok...there we go...that's better...takes a little getting used to, you know...? I guess I should take that speed-reading course after all!!!

Now let's talk about the design...if you ever need help with that contact me...

The IORR design has been the same for ten years. I have given up on redesigning it. As long as the "boys" are on tour it will be "next year". The policy of IORR is information, information, information... Design is not important.

No complaints from me...just an offer...a suggestion. The present design is easy to navigate, and comfortable...like visiting an old friend's home. But it could be much more...inspired...and fresh...anyway, bv...if and when you find the time and energy I can present you some great design ideas - it would be a pleasure and an honor.

Yep, that's right.
Normally, I even don't open the homepage but immediatelly Tell Me-forum by its direct link.

Great that the site is faster. The design is fine being simple. I have very slow internet so I like being able to load this without waiting forever like I do with sites that are covered in adds and pictures!

Yes. Me too. I bookmark the tour date page, then usually go straight to Tell Me.

The simple design, lack of graphics and the info is what attracts me to this site.

I've realized i've done the same amount of surfing in IORR as I usual do and i've spent about 10 minutes less than normal. Now I know why!

Thats great, now everyone can leave 10 minutes earlier and go to their local pub.
