I've always been pleased by the fact that Carly Simon is such a big fan of the Stones. It's cool, I guess, because it seems a bit at odds with her musical persona.
John Belushi was a huge Stones fan and Dan Ackroyd remains one to this day.
Tom Petty and Neil Young are two guys who revere the Stones and whose music is hugely indebted to them.
Sen. John Kerry of Mass. was sweating along with everyone else in the Boston Orpheum in September of 2002.
Alec Baldwin is a guy who seems to turn up at a lot of Stones gigs. Johnny Depp, of course, is another.
The scene at the Joint in February, 1998 was as celebrity-packed as could be imagined. My brother and I were in the third row and were surrounded by: Brad Pitt, Drew Barrymore, Tommy Lee and Pam Anderson, Jeffrey Katzenberg (with family), Paramount head Sherry Lansing, Lars Ulrich of Metallica, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Jack Nicholson, Dennis Hopper, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Sting, Farrah Fawcett, Jenny McCarthy, David Spade and more.
It was amazing to watch so many people, some of them icons, in complete awe of the Stones. It's a level of fame and celebrity that is almost without equal.
