61 in 13 countries so far - still counting. First show was Berlin 76, last one Zürich 06. But I know quite a few people who have been to far more than 100 shows. But they won't post it here which we should respect.

Hi chelskeith that was amazing to read. Your story is so special and I can only imagine how you feel about this very special relationship towards Keith. Very few people outside the actual "inner" Stones circle have this privilege. Thanks for sharing.

According to the myth he went to his first Stones gig in 1963. I've never met him, just heard of him. Many fans seems to know about this guy, but I have to admit I don't know the facts. Some people say he use to close down his office while The Stones are on tour.
btw, just for the record, have they played as much as 1000 gigs before 1966?

Very nearly. The 1,000th gig would have been during the 1967 European tour.

In 1964 they played 322 shows. In the three years from 1963-65 they played over 860 concerts - well over 40% of the total for their entire career

To get some perspective, in the 70s they played only 260 concerts and in the 80s only 149, so in those 20 years they played less than half of the amount of shows they played from 1963-65

Hi Niks, sounds like a great idea!
However, I don't know if I can make it to any shows this summer, as I've commited myself to a job...trying to get some cash for August (moving south..).
If I can make it, I guess it will be London. (going there in April BTW for Dylan)

FASCINATING perspective; ty.

i suppose a at least during 63-65, a lot of these must've been 'tami' kinda revue shows with other acts and probably not very long sets...the beats would play twenty minutes even at stadiums during the time i think...

still strikes me as very fascinating numbers and perspective on them...
whoa...and to think brian was right there each and every time...
lots of thoughts after reading these specs...

I thought it was remarkable that they even played a gig on Dec 24th 1964 (or was it 1963?).
But Brian called in sick for a few of the shows. Only Keith has "never missed a gig".

yeah - about 25-40 minutes would have been the norm for the Stones' pre-1969 tour shows, usually with a few other acts on the bill and more often than not with two shows per day.

However, 322 shows in a year is quite a breathtaking schedule, especially when you then consider the various studio sessions, TV appearances and radio sessions that they were doing back then as well. Plus, they werent travelling around in the private jets and staying in the 5-star hotels that they do nowadays.
