Question about Steel Wheels studio footage...
Date: January 17, 2007 02:54

There have been several sources I have seen (including 25X5 and Just For The Record) that show videos of the Stones in the studio either cutting tracks or what not. The one from 25X5 especially stands out in my mind when Mick and Keith are standing around finding out what chords to play for Mixed Emotions, and what not. Does anybody know where this footage is from, or if there is more? I would love to see it.Thanks!

the footage was shot at Air Studios in Monserrat, if that's what you mean.
the sessions there ran from march 29th to may 5th 1989.

Yeah, that footage. Do you know if there is more footage of it, and if so, do you know where it could be found?

theres a 'rough cut' of the 25 x 5 documentary, which features a little bit more footage from that session (basically Mixed Emotions and Rock and a hard place) - although the picture quality (in my copy anyway) aint that great. It also includes a brief and tantalising snippet of a studio jam/singalong of Robert Johnson's 'Hellhound On My Trail'

An example of something in the official vaults that rivals what's out there unofficially... though it's Steel Wheels we're talking about.

I believe that photo may have run in Rolling Stone.

I do think that the footage of Jagger and Keith writing the chords for Mixed Emotions is very staged for the camera.

Yes, it did. I remember the article. It said they've made a new "Paint It, Black" with Continental Drift. Whatever.

If anyone has any extra footage of this, could you please post it. I have only seen the Mixed Emotions bit. Thanks!
