MICK TAYLOR (and His Band) in Ochten, Holland, 17 and 18 November
Posted by: sjef ()
Date: November 4, 2006 23:24

Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that Mick Taylor will be playing a two-night show in Holland very soon, 17 and 18th of November. He will bring his own band, consists of his long-time bandmates from the UK.
First it was just a one-night show, but interest was very very big, so there is a second night scheduled. I think that shows how much MT is respected in and around Holland.

(And the "rumours"of MT being drunk on stage while guesting in the Finish Wentus Bluesband seems totally nonsense to me as I was visiting a friend lately who visited MT about 40 times in the last 10 years and never saw him drunk (!!!) And his playing never was like a drunk anyway. I think there is a big difference in being in "musical-trance with your eyes closed" while playing and "being drunk". I also heard some great recordings at this friend's house and all I heard with his band from 1990 till 2006 was awesome! To me MT is just a great great improvising guitarist... It's so easy to stand at the sideline and yell "booh and baah")

So anyway smiling smiley keep smiling people and see Mick playing with his own bandmates in Holland. visit www.bluesstage.nl/ochten
(the site says the 18th is sold-out but because cancelled reservations a very limited number of tickets for the 18t5h will become available.. 17th is still normally available..)

Cheers!

Hi Sjef,

I agree. I have never heard anything but fantastic musicianship on any of MT's live recordings. Is there any chance you will record his concert on the 17th or 18th?

Hi Terraplane,

Sorry but I don't record the shows (never do). I think there will allways be somebody who does, you never know, so maybe after a while there will show up some recordings among fans..

Well, I don't even have recording-equipment, and I don't need it, it's great to have a good concert in memory.. (but sometimes somebody gives me a recording, but I never make them by myself..)

Are these dates part of a tour? Is he scheduled to play anywhere else?

No, these are isolated dates, they will come over to Holland, and fly back afterwards...

I'll be there the 18th.
Does anybody have a recent setlist of Mick Taylor's band?
Thanks in advance.

I agree that one day a recording will show up.
Actually only a few weeks ago I finally got the recordings of Mick Taylor's gig in november 2001 in Manifesto, Hoorn, Holland.
I was there too.

Cheers, Rob.

Thanks for the heads up. For those of us who do not speak Dutch, I'd appreciate your providing a little more info as to which links to use to listen to the program. Thanks again.

Click the black/yellow button that says "ARROW Classic Rock"
Then click on the right top of the page "Luister nu naar arrow classic rock" in red.

When you do these things at the right time (9 PM Dutch Time), you're listening to the special smiling smiley

All those questions about isolated gigs or a regular tour come from a lack of a reliable website to become informed in advance. Or is there one?!

WWW.micktaylor.NET is the only one to report about official tourdates, this site is always complete for as far as I know, there are simply no other shows around the posted dates... Or maybe once in a while when a date "slips through" and be forgotten to post I guess...

Interview by telephone, the usual questions like "did you regret quitting the stones?" (Answer: no)
Some talk about his career, about Mayall, Clapton, Dylan, about his influences and off course how he's looking forward to play the two Ochten gigs.

Taylor said he's planning a new album next year, it's been seven years since A Stones'throw and people tend to forget you if you don't come up with new stuff, even if you're famous for playing with Mayall/Stones and Dylan!

Thanks for the info about the interview.

If anyone recorded it and could post it in Hot Stuff, that would be much appreciated.

So he will release a new CD next year....

Let us know if he play's any of those "new" songs this weekend.

If he has a meet & greet after the show and takes questions. ask him if he's
planning on any tours of the US next year.

thanks

Great nights for those who will attend. I am feeling frustated as MickT does not make any performance in France, this year I mean.
