Let's Spend The Night Together is my pick for most over rated...
When I listen to it, it's hard to believe it was a top hit back in 1967.
Perhaps it was a hit for the mere taboo and "naughty" nature of the song title and theme rather than the song composition and production which are rather mundane and monotonous for Stones classic standards.
Well, the song title may have caused a stir 39 or so years ago however the song itself hasn't maintained much muster. It's a "go to the bathroom, take a smoke break, grab a beer song" for me...
But more power to ya if ya indeed dig it...won't hold it against anyone...
This is a no-brainer. The most overrated Stones song is Sway. When you compare the accolades on this song from the die hard fans to the degree this song interests me, the gap is by far larger than for any other song.
How anyone can diss Angie, Miss You, Start Me Up, Have You Seen Your Mother Baby .., or Sympathy for the Devil is unbelievable.

Sympathy is a bit overrated as well, dunno how I forgot about that one. It's still one of my 10 favorite Stones songs, but the song isn't as great as most fans say it is, Keef's solos in particular. Ther are far better solos in Rock music that the ones on Sympathy.
Most overrated song is NOT Sway. If anything, it's underrated, as only hardcore Stones fans know it.

Sway is overrated. Its boring and sure its good but more a filler than a real gem. Keiths ballads of the 90s. Rock and a hard place used to be overrated. Black Limo. Tumblin dice is good and overplayed but i dunno if its overrated. Street fighting man is overrated. HTW is overrated. The studioversion is good and I like the sloppy 1975-76 version but its not one of their best songs and yet its considered to be just that.
I would say Sympathy. It's a good song but all this devil thing blowed it out of proportion. I mean, there's Stones songs with way cooler lyrics and better grooves, and nowadays it's turned into a carnival thing when they play it live, it ain't menacing no more.
My criteria for "most overrated" = weak but was considered a "hit" with lots of airplay.
Emotional Rescue
Although I would like to see this played live...simply because they haven't played it much or at all (not sure). A fresh/different live version might be interesting. Did they ever do this at any CLub shows during the 40 licks tour?

Well, in fan-discussions, I don't see any tendences that this song is overrated. Most of the fans don't like the studio-version too much, but the song got accepted, after been played on stage. But it's not overrated at all. For me, Start Me Up and Tumbling Dice are overrated. I can't understand, why the crowd just beginns burning, when the first riffs of Tumbling Dice are played...don't know.

I agree somewhat that TD is overrated. I think it sounds out of place on Exile. Don't get me wrong...it's a very good song but it's another one that has been played to death. It has become obvious that it's one of Mick's favorites to perform live.
Re: "overrated" songs.....differentiating between "least favorites" and "overrated".......I might have to add YOU GOT ME ROCKING as "overrated". Good groove but the lame lyrics are NOT worthy of being an opening song at a Stones concert. (YGMR opened a few ABB shows)
"I was a butcher cuttin' up meat" (??) almost as lame as "Let's work".
