It's sad that in the world we live in these days we can't let someone else have a joyous moment -- ie: Midnight Toker.

The fact, is He is NOT a stalker so get off his case.

Keith is not a moron. He's been around plenty of hotel lobbies and fans and it's quite doubtful that he was shaking in his shoes.

I think in order to be considered a stalker you have to have some sort of bad intent, or at the very least follow the person on more than one occasion, neither of which was the case here. It is a bit disturbing that Keith's security is so lax, but that isn't Midnight Toker's fault.

Red Coal Carpet, Wow, our sick society has really burned into your brain...Not EVERYBODY is Chapman, in fact VERY few are (a plane crashes ONCE in a great while. Does that mean you're gonna stop flying? OF COURSE NOT !!). Midnight Toker, wanted to shake Keith's hand so he shook his hand and complimented him, end of story. He did it with class and respect (changed his clothes to "fit in" with the hotel lobby).I live in LA most of the time, and Micks always at a certain hotel in Beverly Hills (when not on tour). Doesn't take much to find out what hotel since it's usually mentioned on the radio a million times. I could care less, I have better things to do then try and meet him for 5 seconds (no offense Midnight Toker - different strokes for different folks). Would have been a kick in the 70's but I have other interests these days (like stalking TRIUMPH, the late night insult comedy DOG -lol). Midnight - as I mentioned in my original post on this thread, I think it's great that you met Keith. I really do enjoy hearing stories of peoples brushes with celebrities. In recounting your meeting, maybe you embellished it a little (a lot of people do when recounting a story) and in so doing, made the story a little creepy to some, including me.

Hell, I'd even say that you have a knack for writing stories in a manner that captures the reader, because it did do that for me. It just affected me differently than others.

one thing about that WMiller, he speaks diplomatically and he does his research. Damn good research....that's some weird shit he found in the archives.

Dear Red Coal Carpet. I am of the opinion that ANYBODY can be gotten if someone is insanely crazy determined. How about when one the of the Stones (or any other famous person) is walking into the hotel and a suicide bomber is out there waiting to run up and set off their vest (that's how they killed Gandhi I believe). I took the Lennon thing VERY hard (was in a heavy depression for days with a lot of sadness thrown in) and maybe if Chapman couldn't get his gun as easy as a candy bar he MIGHT not have been able to pull it off (but guns are penis extensions to some men in American culture so they are untouchable). If you don't think I'm making sense check this out. Lennon shot 4 times - dead in about a minute (last words were in the back of the police car on the way to the hospital) George Harrison attacked in his home in strict gun control England by a freak with a knife. Stabbed numerous times and lives (it's the cigs that did him in). There will always be nuts but you gotta minimize their tools of murder and destruction. If the Stones (or anyone) are THAT paranoid there's always the option of moving to Mustique and cutting one off from almost all the world's public. Living in isolation is the ONLY for sure way to eliminate the threat. It's up to every celeb to do what they feel comfortable with. I personally can give a flying f*ck about 99.999999% of them. I like there art but that's were it ends with me. I learned ALONG time ago that you can never hang with them like you're part of the inner circle or be there bud (and I also learned I probably wouldn't want to be 9.9 out of 10 times - I have my own interests. Hey MB, I hear what you're saying, but there is something to be said for the fact that Keith did hire the bodyguards. It may not seem like it, but the Stones checking into a hotel is still their PERSONAL time. A public figure putting himself out there for a scheduled performance is one thing - he knows the fans are going to be there to see him and that's cool, that is on his terms.

People waiting around a hotel, while I certainly have no problem with that is another thing. If Keith wanted to interact with his fans at that point, he wouldn't have hired security to keep the fans away, or he would have walked over to the fans calling to him. It's great that MT got to meet Keith, but at the same time, you have to remember Keith's wishes must be that he did not want to be meeting fans at that point, therefore how "psyched" could Keith have been about someone tricking the people he hired to keep him away.

Keith loves his fans, we all know that, but remember how Keith reacted when the guy jumped up on stage and he whacked him with the guitar. Keith make a comment about the guy being on his turf and he was obviously pissed.

You can say how sad and jaded we are that we have to fear everyone, call it paranoia if you want, I call it being sensible.
