That wasn't so @#$%& bad! I mean I got to admit I never liked the 81-82 versions, they never really touched the original, not that this one have but still they just have to play it more times. I could do without the horns but it's not like they @#$%& the song up. They're alright. I just don't think Lisa should sing on this one, this song should have only male vocies. A few shows down the road and this song might be a highlight.

I liked it personally (though I was worried I wouldn't).

I really like some of the earlier live versions - the one from the "Let's Spend The Night Together" film being a highlight (was that the Hampton show?). I think the best live version may actually be the one Keith did w/the Winos at the Palladium.

Either way, even if the horns aren't necessary it's still a good version. Still, regarding the horns, just because they work on "Happy" I don't see why Keef feels the need to stick them on all of his rock numbers (Wanna Hold You, Thru and Thru, Before They Make.., Little T&A)

Those horns are not good. What's the point?

It sound strange with horns, but not a bad version after all.

Nice find, Keef!

It's got those cheesy "Brand New Car" horns, but I like the rest. The backing vocals didn't sound as ridiculous as I expected and I loved the dual solo, even though it was a complete trainwreck.

That was the first time the band had played it live in 24 years - it'll only get better, won't it?

Oh yeah - one more thing. Keith, you know that big piece of wood around your neck? No, not the one eating the banana behind you - the one strapped on your body. Yeah, that one.

It's not there to be held at arm's length and waved around. It's there to be played. Please try to remember that in the future. Thanks.

I hate to say this but I found this REALLY aweful! No Kieth guitar, horns, backup singers, and NO PASSION! The 81-82 versions just RIPPED! For the 1st time, Kieth really looked OLD trying to pull this off (yes, I know he IS old, but hasn't appeared or acted as such before to me). This is really depressing me.

horns aside - the tempo is waaaaaaaay too slow - practically a slowdance number....

It certainly came a long way from 81/82.

melillo, you don't have to be a genius to figure this one out. The guy recoding this is at the end of the stadium and in pigeon heaven,he in betwqeen the amps and speakers to boot. It sounds somewhat o.k. I was there and were i was,it sounded really good. If that was through the sound board this would be a really good version imo. Listen to the guitars it's similar to some of hampton.

the similarities between hampton and this:

both renditions were performed on a stage in the US within the past quarter century. that's about it....

StonesTod, That opening riff woody starts with is exactly the way he opens it in hampton. The rest of the lead is different thank god, i hate repatisous band's. Just like Jimmy Page he's never played the same lead twice on stage in his life. Iwould'nt comment if you were'nt there either trying to depict from a sh*** boot to boot is not very wise.

Check the rs.com web site they have a little clip of it from gillette is sounds way different then that quality.you can hear keef's guitar really well the couple seconds of it anyway but you can hear how good it is.

you know what its not really that the guitars are that bad, its just that
when lisa and bernard start that vegas style backup crap it just ruins everything man
