When will Atlanta (Turner Field ) be announced?
Posted by: Elmo Lewis ()
Date: September 8, 2006 01:22

The Braves are almost mathematically out of the wild card chase. Is the Turner Field announcement hinging on their elimination? October 26 would be the 6th game of the World Series. No way the Barves will be there. They toted serious ass-whippings from the Mets yesterday.

If they were playing the Fox, it would already be announced. Anything solid from anybody?

If it is in fact true that it would be game 6 of the World Series, then Turner Field is already open for that date. Games 6 and 7 are going to be played at the American League pennant winner's stadium because the American League won the All-Star game. Is a day and a half fast enough to set up the staging?

So true, ed. Forgot about the new importance given to the All-Star game. When they announced the changes, who would have thought it would ever affect the Stones (my national pasttime)? So announce the show already!!!

Wouldn't they play the Georgiadome instead of Turner Field? With these shows happening late in the year, you'd think they wouldn't want to take a chance with weather even if it is in the deep south. This is one reason I was surprised that they're not playing Safeco Field in Seattle which, although not a dome, has a roof.

Judging by the ticket sales for stadium shows in the major markets (Boston, Meadowlands, Chicago, LA), adding another one doesn't seem like a good idea. Even if the venue would be available and they could fit it into their schedule. An arena show in Atlanta, Birmingham or the Miami area would probably do well, though.

THANK YOU! They haven't played B'ham in 12 years!

Or New Orleans, for that matter.

Yeah but the 94 show at Legion Field in BHAM was FAR from capacity. Wondering if it left a bad taste.

Turner Field is the worst concert venue they could play in. Phillips, the Dome, the Fab Fox, or even Grant Field are far, far better.

Could be. On the other hand, the last time they played in Louisville (1989) they didn't sell out. And this time it's one of the few sellouts.

Is this still that bad ? Do we have an estimate for Boston and E.Rutherfords ? Thanks.

For Boston, you can still pull up 12 tickets in each price level, plus they have just opened up a $22.50 price level for the back of the lower level. I'd say it is 70% sold, but that is just a "guesstimate". For Giants Stadium, there are plenty of seats popping up on Ticketmaster.com.

Hey HoundD, at this point in time I'm pulling for the Mets, Reds, etc. I can see the Braves 82 times a year - not so the Stones. Go Marlins!

The Braves elimination number from their division is 3 which may knock them out as early as tomorrow.

The Braves elimination number from the Wild Card is still 17.

Thanks, nick. 17 is a lot of games when a certain band could be making big $$$ off of the interest.

Why even wait? The Braves can't play their way out of a paper bag. I say go ahead and schedule the concert. If there is a baseball game let Jagger, Richards and the rest of the band/extended band play the game before the concert. Jagger and Richards would have a better chance of winning a baseball game than the lowly Atlanta Braves.

Maybe they are realizing they can't fill stadiums in markets as easily as they once could in big cities. Sounds like the quickest selling venues are off the beaten path...Halifax (though only 50,000), Regina, Louisville
