I'd love to see Torn & Frayed, it's such a good song!

The Stones have been blamed for many things (and often rightly so) but I'm blissfully aware of them being responsible for any incidents of mass-murder on a holocaust/Rwanda scale

Have to say I'd be a bit annoyed at them if this was the case, although I guess there are some folks on here who would find some way of defending them. smiling smiley

Metaphorical of course Gaz. Like "The Beatles want to hold you and, The Stones want to burn your town".

I remeber Jerry Wexler saying that "with the Beatles there was arousal but nothing else, but with the Stones there was full penetration. They made a
cottage industry of lock up your wives and daughters the Rolling Stones are in town"

What did you people do with Jumping Jack Flash?!

Brown Sugar?!

Start Me Up?!

No Stones-show without those songs, in my opinion.

I think playing the "warhorses" all the time is self-defeatist.
It shows a huge lack of confidence in their newer songs and lost
gems. I also think that Jagger is a much less interesting performer
on these songs than on the newer stuff. Bob Dylan can do any songs
he chooses to do, as can Bowie, Springsteen. Anyone who says that
the Stones would loose their fans/money by being bolder in their song
choices is an idiot.

Would also love to hear keith sing "All About You". What a special song!

It was a nice surprise to finally get it on the Bridges tour. Worked nicely too, even on a tour where most of its performances took place in stadiums.

You're so lucky, I'd kill to have heard that one. It's on my wishlist with:
Send It To Me
Can I Get A Witness
Let It Loose
Faraway Eyes
I Can't Turn You Loose

They have far too many great songs for just one show. So I made setlists for nights 1 and 2. A great show for me has to have a certain element of surprise so that’s why I added two covers of songs The Stones have never done before that I think would work really well on their hands.

NIGHT 1:
01. Jumping Jack Flash
02. Bitch
03. Shattered
04. Undercover Of The Night
05. Tumbling Dice
06. Gimme Shelter
07. That’s Life (Frank Sinatra cover)
08. Wild Horses
09. Salt Of The Earth
10. Street Fighting Man
11. You Got Me Rocking
12. Oh No, Not You Again
13. Love Is Strong
14. Midnight Rambler
---- INTRODUCTIONS ----
15. Slipping Away (KR)
16. Thief In The Night (KR)
17. Happy (KR)

18. It’s Only Rock N’ Roll (B-Stage)
19. Rough Justice (B-Stage)
20. Get Off Of My Cloud (B-Stage)

21. Sympathy For The Devil
22. Paint It, Black
23. Honky Tonk Woman
24. Start Me Up
25. Satisfaction

26. You Can’t Always Get What You Want
27. Brown Sugar

NIGHT 2:
01. Jumping Jack Flash
02. Bitch
03. Hand Of Fate
04. Some Girls
05. Gimme Shelter
06. Tumbling Dice
07. Across 110th Street (Bobby Womack cover)
08. Worried About You
09. Beast Of Burden
10. Street Fighting Man
11. If You Can’t Rock Me
12. All Down The Line
13. Heartbreaker
14. Miss You
---- INTRODUCTIONS ----
15. Thru And Thru (KR)
16. You Don’t Have To Mean It (KR)
17. Before They Make Me Run (KR)

18. It’s Only Rock N’ Roll (B-Stage)
19. Respectable (B-Stage)
20. The Last Time (B-Stage)

21. Sympathy For The Devil
22. One Hit (To The Body)
23. Honky Tonk Woman
24. Start Me Up
25. Satisfaction

26. You Can’t Always Get What You Want
27. Brown Sugar

Hi Keith the Beast, they're both better setlists than what we get at the moment. But only a radical change around of the setlists can rescue the
Stones now! and your lists are still very conservative!

Re: Dream Setlist

How about: Out Of Control, Saint Of Me. Pain In My Heart, Little Queenie, Heartbreaker, Can I Get A Witness?, Hey Mona, Monkey Man, Send It To Me,
Dance, She Was Hot, One Hit..., Blinded By Love, Carol, Jiving Sister Fanny,
Tie You Up, The Worst, Laugh I Nearly Died, Memo From Turner, Flight 505,
Moonlight Mile, Mothers Little Helper, Fool To Cry, She's A Rainbow, Love Is
Strong, Jigsaw Puzzle, to name but a few. All these absolute CLASSICS and we
get IORR and Satisfaction for the millionth time. Pure unadulterated laziness.

Is there any future for the Stones? At least one we can be proud of? I figure it will go one of two ways:
a)2007: Having just finished their bigger bang tour in America, amidst complaints about outrageous ticket prices and never-changing set lists, the Stones are once again announced the highest paid performers ever. They take another eight years to produce another album, patchy at best. Another world tour is announced for 2014. Set lists are unimaginative and the critics delight in tagging them wrinkly rockers. Having completed the tour the Stones are unlikely to produce any new material again due to their shamefully slow working pace. Although their 60's and 70's material is without equal the Stones finish up as nostalgia merchants, thereby cheapening their canon of work.

b)2007: Having just finished their bigger bang tour in America, amidst complaints about outrageous ticket prices and never changing set lists, the Stones are once again announced the highest paid performers ever. Mick Jagger announces that the Stones are no longer going to tour the world's stadia in an effort to concentrate on new material. 2008 sees the release of a new Stones album. Containing the Stones freshest new material in years, as well as covers of classic soul/blues/country material the Stones recieve unparalled critical acclaim. Mick and Keith begin to write together again and regain the elasticity of the early days. New albums are released every 2/3 years, puntuated by smaller arena-based tours. On these tours the Stones deliver diverse shows: Whole album shows eg.Sticky Fingers/Exile/Tattoo You
Covers Shows (Blues/Soul/Country/Funk)
All new material shows
Although they do not ignore their hits, they no longer take up the entire set list. Although reactions to the shows are unsure to start with, the Stones are soon hailed as rejuvenated artists who take gambles with their performances. The albums now show a mature band. Reviews rival those of earlier periods and the Stones are now once again viewed as cultural heavy-weights. The Stones continue to work into old age and prove that they were, are and ever will be the greatest band in the world!

What are your views? Whats next for this group?

as simple as it sounds i think it may all depend upon rather mick chooses to make another solo album or not.
