My Aretha/Live at the Fillmore cds finally came in. I'd forgotten that Billy Preston was on this. Listening to it, apart from proving how great a live Aretha was at her peak, it reminded me of why Billy was such an asset to the Stones in that period. Some people didn't like his flashiness, but besides being funky, he was melodic and was able to answer to what MT or Keef was doing on his organ, electric piano. This was recorded in March 71 - and although they had already recorded with Billy, I wonder if this cd made Mick want to use him on the 73 tour. He was great live.
