I must admit I did wonder the same thing particularly with the reduced set lists and lack of variance. However, if your suspicion is correct and Keith had a medical condition requiring surgery that necessitated waiting for the break before Europe to address, then I believe they handled it the right way. Consider if they had come out and announced Keith would have surgery after the April break but was expected to recover in a few months and the European tour would be delayed indefinitely. Think of the field day the media would have had and the resulting public opinion. As bad as the delay was for fans who ended up with cancelled or postponed shows, it would have been far more disastrous the other way. Whether the result of poor judgement or poor health, I hope the man is okay and that fans get what they need in two weeks.

OH, come on - conspiracy comrades... Get out into the sun, in stead of spinning gruesome theories over your computers... Or take the pink pill. Then a yellow one a little later.

I think the Stones media machine would have worked out a better excuse than the tree story, if it wear true he was having surgery for something else.

There were some murmerings a few weeks ago, originating from a French source I believe, that medical investigation following Keith's accident [whatever it's nature]had revealed a pre-existing problem. It's possible that a pre-existing chronic subdural haematoma was discovered.
But even if that were the case,it does not mean that anybody new about it before hand. Folks can walk around happily for years with those things... and they are often completely asymptomatic.

But does any of this matter at this stage ? What's happened has happened. Water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned.

mercy - why would Keith have planned head surgery halfway around the world from his normal haunts?
nothing against New Zealand health care, but that hospital isn't like lightyears ahead of anyone else in the cranial surgery department,
so there's no reason (none that i know of, anyway) for anyone with a choice to choose that one.

better yet: watch the Saitama show.

"What do you want - what?!"
- Keith

I have decided that falling from a palm tree is so ridiculous that it could only be true. No one would have made it up.

fits in nicely, with the whole,
Keith-rebel, devil-may-care, Pirate-schtick, though doesn't it?

Agree, it is SO stupid that it just has to be true. Maybe on one of the forthcoming shows when Keith does his spot he'll shed some light on what actually did happen ? Then again ............ dream on !!

This will all be cleared up shortly. Keef has been negotiating the rights for the footage and has just sold them to Vonage for a commercial.

..and also with the 'Keith-irresponsible, accident-prone, drunk' image too!

Jesus Christ, the guy just said it sounded suspect to him. Its not like he asked if anyone has heard the John Phillips sessions from 76-77.

does that make it time for the ubiquitous 'Pay Pack & Follow' thread?

i think he went further than saying 'it sounded suspect'... LOL

I know that, Gazza, but its not like he claimed to have insider info on a "cover-up," he was just floating a theory. I just didn't want to see him run out of town just because his idea isn't accepted as credible by the masses.

i just hope to god oliver stones is putting a treatment together for
"The Cocanut Incident"
or maybe i should send michael moore a link to this page...

he 'fell out of a tree' but landed on his feet...and then fell back
on to the grassy knoll...there is something we're not being told here...
i don't want to hear that lone-cocanut theory again...
ONE cocanut could NOT have done all that damage...

opening scene...fiji island from the air...zoom in on a fancy resort...switch to hand-held camera and a towering palm tree...a snakeskin boot hits the sand...
and an empty bottle...fade to black...
music starts...
monkey man...
i smell a docu oscar...

Hmmmm ....... very creative. Not an out of work film director are you - by any chance ?

ohno paulywaul ;-)
not at all...
was a union grip for a number of years 'makin' motion pictures out in hollywood'...but just a grunt and a hammer...rigging heavy sh*t up way high on set or location...
sometimes production gripping messin' with the shape and opacity of light and stuff...never a director...
but a film fan and u get to work with good directors of photography and watch a zillion times how things get set up and shot...
did once get a small paycheck for outlining a 'treatment' for someone...
but hardly a filmaker...nor screemwriter...ha...
more like lifting walls and hanging chain for scaffolding...
dirty dangerous grunt work mostly...ahhhh...showbiz...
a leetle dolly-gripping...
this was jest kinda leetle bubbleboy joke...
i don't think we're getting the WHOLE story...
but we're getting enough of it...and it's enough for me...
even if some of it's been sanitized or de-personalized...
and that's alright with me too...
we don't need the tabloids...we need the stones live on the full moon
july 11th in milan...
wish i could be there...KNOW my European friends will report back here pronto...
i'll be online no matter what time of day or night it is in north america...
i will be happy when he hits the stage and smiles...
that's pretty much all i'm hoping for...the rest is gravy...
