As a special treat for the Rolling Stones fans, we decided to book BO DIDDLEY into Munich on July 14, so Stones-Fans can have a great rockin' weekend with Bo on July 14 and the Stones concert on July 16.

A mighty fine venue, I must say!

I remember reading in Wyman's book how the Stones were honored to be performing in a show in which Bo Diddley was the headliner...I'm guessing that was 43 years ago...

Bo has a great history with the Stones going back to that first UK tour in '63 (documented in Gus Coral's book "Black & White Blues"), through his & Ron's Gunslingers tour & live album of 1987-88, & the 1996 "Man Amongst Men" cd featuring Keith & Ron, especially the killer 'Hey Negrita'-style Diddley/Wood track 'I Can't Stand It.' And Robert Palmer's essay in the 1990 Chess Box opened my eyes to just how brilliant and varied the guy's work really is.

Bo is a king among men.

Whenever I hear "Who do you love" I think about who the real original rocker is smiling smiley

A great performer in a great venue. Normally I would be there, but the problem is the Stones are performing in Franfurt that evening, July 14.

The Chess Box has been out in the States for 15 years, & imo is worth it just for R. Palmer's brilliant essay, but I just got what looks like a great UK comp in the mail (minimal notes/annotation, tho), "The Story Of Bo Diddley" (Chess, 9832296/issued 2006), 54 tracks on 2 CDs, many not on on the US box or "Best Of"
